One of the things I value most as a man behind the lens is getting to ask about the stories behind what I photograph — the history, the memories, and the little details that make them meaningful.
I still remember photographing ._.r and when their bridal car immediately caught my attention. I may not be a car guy, but I know a good story when I hear one.
What once started as a Texas farm truck had been passed around through different places by Carley’s family until they eventually settled in Missouri. The truck was parked away and left unused for years — until Carley turned sixteen, got her license, landed a part-time job, and needed a car of her own.
The truck was given to her with one condition: she had to bring it back to life herself.
So she did. She patched rusty holes, scrubbed away years of dirt and dust, and even made her own custom seat cover. She drove it for years until she was finally able to buy a new car, then returned it back to the farm where it all started.
Years later, on her wedding day, she chose to ride the vintage truck again. It was the not-so-perfect but perfect part of her story that carried her to her new season.
Stories like these will always mean more to me than just photographs.
