Osprey eat nothing but fish and are excellent at snagging their meals right out of the water. I captured this shot during my last photo excursion before my surgery to remove a brain tumor. I am recovering well and adjusting to my new life post-surgery. I am working to be able to get out more, and learn how to take photos with my left eye and with limited vision. I am determined to be back doing what I love, watching wildlife and capturing it to share with you.

Thank you to all that have stayed during my prolonged absence.

We have had a gulp (that is what a group of cormorants is called) of cormorants that have been hanging out in the pond behind our house. They are quite skittish and the local egrets and great blue herons do not like to see them in the area.
Here is a cool fact about cormorants: Cormorants have short wings for a flying bird due to their need to swim. Because of this, they have the highest flight cost of any flying bird. ~www.oceanwide-expeditions.com/to-do/wildlife/cormorant-1

It has been way too long since I have been able to get out and take photos. My husband and I decided to take some time and head up to Jekyll Island today. The weather was perfect and we were able to observe a decent variety of wildlife. The Rosette Spoonbill is one of my favorite wading birds and I was fortunate to capture one flight today.
