If you love color, a Sangeet will ruin you for every other event. 🌟

I seriously had such a hard time picking my favorites from Maya and Luke’s celebration. The music, the dancing, the food, the energy, I was just completely taking it all in.

Maya wore her mother’s wedding dress. Every family member spent hours rehearsing the choreographed dances. It was one of those moments where you realize you’re not just photographing a party. You’re photographing something that brings people together!!!

My first Sangeet and it set the bar impossibly high!!

The colors in these photos!!!! WOW! I can’t stop looking at them.

Like, aren’t these insane??

20 years from now, when you’re reminiscing on this day, I want you to feel something. I want the images to transport you back to the emotions you felt.

If the photos transport you right back into your body on that day, if you can smell the flowers and feel the sun on your skin all over again, I’ve done my job.

Choosing a film stock is one of my favorite parts of the creative process, and I do it before the wedding dat even starts.

Kodak Gold 200 is warm, golden and rich. It loves bright light and when the conditions are right there is nothing else I would rather have loaded. This is the stock that I find myself reaching for the most.

Portra 400 is what I reach for when the light is doing something interesting and I want the image to feel more editorial. It’s moodier but still compliments direct sun.

Kodak Gold 400 is everything I love about Gold 200, with a little more versatility. The extra stop of light means I can bring it into situations where 200 would struggle, later in the day, indoors, surrounded by trees. The grain gets a little more pronounced and honestly I love that about it.

Fujifilm 400 has a personality all its own. Cooler, a little green in the shadows, more unpredictable than the Kodaks. It does not play by the same rules and that is exactly why I love it for the right moment. When it works it is unlike anything else in my bag.

Sure, that big dip and kiss as they walk back down the aisle is always a stunning shot.

But I LOVE photographing the dress details. There are always SO many hands. Someone’s fussing with the veil, a few people are wrestling that bustle (always a whole ordeal). Those helping hands are proof of exactly who showed up for the bride on her most special day yet.

I want you to remember not just how beautiful you looked, but how beautiful you felt.

Your wedding gallery shouldn’t be a highlight reel of just the two of you.

I mean, you’ll be in most of it. But some of my favorite frames from any wedding are the ones you’re not always in.

Your mom as she listens to your sister’s speech. The college roommate who flew in from three time zones away. Your niece dancing and always stopping to smile for the camera. Your dad quietly wiping his eyes during your vows when he thought no one was watching.

These are the people who make the day what it is. The whole room, everyone who loves you, in one place for once. That almost never happens again. So I’m watching for them all day, the same way I’m watching for you.

Years from now you’ll remember you were there. What you’ll be so glad I caught, is everyone else who was too.

Ryleigh and Trenton’s families were friends long before they were, so it didn’t feel like a day where two families were joining as one. They’d be intertwined, rooting for each other the whole way, for many years already.

An invisible string. 🥹

Ryleigh planned every corner of the wedding herself, and her eye for detail was in EVERYTHING.

But oh my gosh, the FILM. I shot over a HUNDRED frames and felt more creatively alive than I have in a long time. Something about this day cracked something open in me.

The grain, the color, the in-between moments a digital frame never quite holds onto. This is the stuff I’ll be thinking about for a while.

Ryleigh and Trenton, thank you for letting me be there for it.

I am so grateful when my couples give ME a day I’ll never forget. 🌸

Mia inquired already knowing *exactly* what she wanted for her Vail wedding.

Her exact words: “I’m so obsessed with your film photos, the coloring and the rawness of them.” 🥹

She didn’t want to spend the day posing. She wanted to be with Mikey and experience it, so that’s what we did.

🤍 Mia + Mikey’s Vail wedding is the one that quite literally changed how I work.

I had all three cameras going that day. Digital kept everything sharp and clear, but honestly it was the film and Super 8 that made it feel like them. The film gave it the grain and coloring Mia loved, and the Super 8 caught the movement, the parts a still frame can’t.

I came home and immediately restructured my packages around those key pillars.

Digital, film, and Super 8. This is the wedding that made my signature combo official.

Big thanks to M&M for giving *me* such a special gift without even knowing it.

From the second I walked into this wedding, I could feel how much everyone loved these two together.

Meg was bubbly and outgoing from the start, the kind of person who makes you feel like you’ve known her for years.

This was one of the most film forward weddings I have shot this year and I felt it. Rich light, gorgeous florals, a reception space that was made for it. I left this day completely inspired.

I love the Catanzaro’s!!!! 💌

A huge thank you to the most incredible team for making this day everything it was.

True to color doesn’t mean every photo looks the same.

It means every photo looks exactly like where you actually were.

The ballroom with the chandeliers is going to give you something completely different than an open field at golden hour. The blue tiled ceremony space and the hillside at 6pm are not the same color story, and they were never supposed to be.

This is why inspiration photos are a starting point, not a blueprint.

When you fall in love with someone else’s photos, you’re also falling in love with their venue, their season, their sky that day. Your photos are going to look like your day.

That’s not inconsistency in editing. That’s just light doing what light does.

And that’s what true to color actually means.
