Found one new bird and two new butterfly species in the yard this weekend. A Great Spangled Fritillary and this handsome Banded Hairstreak. We have never this species. Apparently, it is relatively rare in our county.

Our overwintering Black Swallowtails have started emerging from the chrysalis into their adulthood. This one flew off this morning. He crawled onto my hand and stayed there for a while since it was a bit chilly this morning. Once warm enough with the morning sun on it, it took off.

An image from our most recent blog in case you missed it. It was a nice look at these two White-tail Deer.

It was Friday, March 14, 2025. One of those dry, restless Oklahoma days when the wind never seems to stop moving. It was just before Spring Break. Parts of our small university were already quieter than usual. It was the day when Stillwater and several areas across Oklahoma were hit...

We will share another image from the same Foxy encounter for this Fox Friday...
This is same fox who was at the back in our previous image.

Happy Fox Friday!

Believe it or not, we had never photographed Red Foxes (seen many times) until 2026. And it was a double bonanza! The light wasn't great, but it was so much fun to watch these two doing their things!

Hope you all had a good Sunday. Here's a throwback to some bright images of winged critters when the sunflowers were in bloom.
Looking forward to the sunny days ahead!

The snowstorm is over, but we are still in the midst of a very cold spell that will continue for a few more days. Looking back at some fall images when these American Goldfinches gathered to feast on the dried Maximilian Sunflower seeds.
