This sweet girl’s Mama has been one of my best friends since WE were wild teenagers, so this session is extra-special to me! AND, Morgan is splitting her Senior session into 3 dates, so we will continue the fun at her Fall portion!

We had a perfect evening at the lake for photos! (Ok…yes…it was warm. But we’ve been living in a furnace since June.) Oh, I put on my running shoes & chased that sunset, but it was well worth it! Almost all of what you see here is more of God’s handiwork & less of me & my editing! We live in beautiful country, ya’ll! If you haven’t been enjoying these sunrises & sunsets, you’ve been missing out!

🍂🍁Today is editing catch-up day! I am glued to my computer working on photo galleries, but I’m also contemplating my Fall & Winter scent & product lineup for Selah Skin + The Welcome Home! 🍁🍂

😬I have 3 of my Fall scents almost ready for release, and I finally conceded to the pumpkin🤢 because….I know…it isn’t all about me! 🙄 I have NEVER liked pumpkin ANYthing…anywhere! In a box, with a fox, on a house, with a mouse…I DO NOT LIKE PUMPKIN!

But for YOU ALL…I am doing it! I will have 5 (ok…maybe 6😬) Fall scents, and THEN I’ll add 3-4 more for Christmas! And they’re going to be doozies!! Think pears…bourbon…cashmere…cherries….Your favorite sweater… Yah, I’ll give you some Pumpkin in there, but it’s still APRIL’S Imagination!! 🤭🤣 And I promise….You’re going to LOVE IT!

On Picture Day, please don’t fear the hairspray!!

I’m calling it a day after a LOT of editing today! But before I crash for the night, I want to leave you with the best tip I could offer….

Ladies (& Guys without super-short hair)... Your best friend when getting ready for Picture Day is….. HAIRSPRAY!!!! It’s also the nicest thing you could do for your Photographer, if I’m honest!

I don’t mean the $40 8oz can of soft hold, great-for-your-strands fancy hairspray….don’t waste the nice stuff. Run down to the dollar store & get yourself a big can of 2025’s Aqua Net. I’m not exactly sure what brand that is today, but it comes in a big, bright spray can, looks like it might have been in your mom’s beauty arsenal in 1985, costs less than $5, & uses words like “extra hold”.

Here in Rural America, as the cold fronts start moving through during the best photo opp time of the year, the wind BLOWS. And it seems like I spend more time taming flyaway hair in editing than I spend actually editing! 😬

So here’s what you’re gonna do with Yo Mama’s Hairspray (just my generic name for it): spray a light mist all over your finished ‘do & lightly run your hands down your strands to stick all of those fine hairs down. And when you have minimized those pesky hairs & your “look” looks fabulous, spray that stuff ALL over until you think you might pass out. Take a break/breather while it dries & sets. Then DO IT AGAIN. Don’t let that wind ruin your photo-ready hair! No one will ever know that you used cheap, crunchy Yo Mama’s & my lips are sealed! Trust me….we’ll be thanking EACH OTHER when your session is over!! (This is for Ladies & Fellas of ALL ages!!)

I was able to not only spend this session, but the whole day of the pageant with Ansley this Summer, and she is going to do FHSU Rodeo so proud! She is such an outstanding girl with a big heart for ag life & rodeo, plus she’s just fun to be around!

Ansley, enjoy your Senior Year AND serving as MRFHSU! I’m sending all of my very best wishes!!

I LOVE Senior Sessions! My goal is to make it extra-special & memorable for the Senior, as simple & gentle on Mom & Dad’s hearts AND wallets as possible, and work with everyone’s crazy schedules!

Some tips when shopping for your Senior Photographer?
1. It’s NEVER too early!! I have my calendar open NOW for the Class of 2028!! Let’s get YOUR SENIOR on it!!

2.You get what you pay for! I get it: Professional Photographers are expensive (properly trained photographers who also know how to run an insured/tax-paying business are, anyway.). Professional Photography is a luxury that should be planned and budgeted for so you get wonderful photos without it being a financial burden.

I do a couple of things to try to help you financially plan for your photo session (Senior or otherwise!). First, I offer payment plans. This is why, the sooner you book, the better. I always set up my bookings to take partial payments up to the session date. (Of course, always watch for specials like this! {I usually run ONE Senior Special>>in Aug.})

I also offer FOUR different Senior Packages to choose from! So you know you’ll have a trained photographer with 20+ yrs of business experience, and rather than be forced to choose the QUALITY of your Photographer based on your budget, all you have to choose is the package based on the QUANTITY of outfit changes & image choices you want! So much better!

ALLL of that to say… My SENIOR SPECIAL is running until SATURDAY ONLY!! Then it is GONE! Let’s get those Senior Sessions BOOKED NOW!! 🎓 Please reach out with any questions! I am always happy to help!

We are on vacation this week while our Girls are home for the Rooks Co Fair! BUT keep watching because I have a couple of things to share that you don’t want to miss!!

First: I have enjoyed being involved in sponsoring several Rodeo Pageants across Kansas & Nebraska over the past couple of years! Every young lady I’ve met has been such a blessing to me, so I decided to make a new tradition of creating a new scent (or 2? 😬) for the Big Pageant:

A year ago next week, I was trying out my very own, made-from-scratch skincare for the first time. Now, I look around our home & can’t believe how Selah Skin + The Welcome Home has grown!
