Senior Night is one of those moments many parents experience for the very first time.

You may not know what to expect until the evening actually arrives.

Parents who have already gone through Senior Night often have the best advice for families coming up behind them.

Some families make shirts to wear to the game. Others invite extended family so grandparents, aunts, and uncles can be there to be part of the recognition. I have also seen families bring fat head posters or signs to celebrate their athlete.

Another moment many families enjoy is taking photos together in front of their senior’s banner before or after the ceremony.

Every family finds their own way to make the evening meaningful.

Today reminded me just how much good is happening right here in our community.

This morning, I attended the REACH Relationships & Coffee event hosted by the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerceat the Transplant Alliance Foundation. I expected to see a bingo hall—but I was blown away by how much more it truly is.

The staff is deeply committed to helping transplant patients and their families manage the financial challenges that come with transplantation. When you play bingo there, you aren’t simply having a fun night out—you’re playing **bingo with a cause**.

Later, I saw my son in a post from Althouse Arboretum and GreenAllies about their farm stand. Through a partnership with Pottstown Hospital, they provide free, locally grown produce to our community throughout the growing season. Add in children’s summer camps, environmental education, community events and the Haunted Woods, and it’s easy to see how much happens there!

That combination inspired me to shine a little light on these two incredible organizations.

So, take a walk at the Arboretum, visit the **Pennsylvania Fig Festival tomorrow, August 29, from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.**, or enjoy a night of bingo at Transplant Alliance. You’ll have a wonderful time while supporting something much bigger than yourself—and that’s a pretty great way to spend a day! 💚

I don’t always get around to sharing the wonderful people I photograph—sometimes it takes me a year…or a little longer. 😄

Meet Pete Grace: Senior Site Reliability Engineer, man of many interests, incredibly smart human, longtime supporter of Nihart Photography, and in his own words—a “Surly Digital Plumber, at your service.”

Pete’s company requested two headshots: one serious and one funny. The serious portrait was fairly straightforward. The funny one required a little more experimentation—and apparently two phones, tangled cords, a wrench, a plunger, and quite a few opinions about whatever was happening on the other end of that call. 😂

The final portrait only needed to meet a professional purpose, but these nine images reveal so much more: Pete’s humor, intelligence, creativity, and willingness to completely commit to an idea.

A job title tells us what someone does. A great portrait can give us a glimpse of who they are and sometimes the photographs created between the “official” ones tell the best story.

Now I need to know: If we turned your job title into a fun portrait, what prop would you bring
