An important update regarding GK Photography for GK Collections. 🤍
If you’ve been following my work for a while, you might have noticed a shift behind the scenes: over a year ago, I quietly stopped sharing client sessions that included young children with a few exceptions. While I have previously shared a select few with parental permission, today I am making that protective boundary an OFFICIAL, permanent policy for my business regardless if the consent form is signed.
🚨 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 🚨
GK Photography will no longer post identifiable photos of children’s faces on either my professional business page or my personal account. This applies across the board—signed model release or not. To fully back up this commitment, I have since deleted all past posts featuring any children moving forward.
We need to talk openly about why I am making this choice. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that the federal government cannot criminalize the private, in-home possession of obscene, AI-generated material depicting “fictional” children under the statute at issue. This ruling means that, as the law stands right now, someone can take a real photo of a child’s face or body, use AI to generate abusive material, and possess it privately inside their home completely legally. That is more than enough for me to draw a hard line. I refuse to let GK Photography be a part of the problem. If our laws and government are not going to adequately protect our children from what AI can do with their digital images, then I feel a deep, personal responsibility to do my part to protect them.
Beyond being your photographer, I am a mother. I will always protect any child just like they were my own. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my amazing client families for trusting me, supporting this decision, and helping me keep our kids safe.
This is a scary world we currently live in and I’m just a mommy first doing her best to protect her children and all other children I have a privilege of photographing. 🫶🏼
With love,Gabby
