10 whole years of NSP❤️ I missed posting about this milestone last week due to being caught up on all the Meramec Community Fair weekend things but now that I’m getting back into the swing of things.. 10 years ago on June 17th, 2016, I grabbed a couple girlfriends, a kitchen bar stool, and my first camera and had my first “photoshoot” at Meramec State park. Just a little 17 year old taking her friends most recent instragram photos that turned into a dream and business that has given me so so much in a 10 year time span. In my 10 years of business, I’ve captured senior photos and later on captured their wedding. I have captured clients moments from their engagement to their wedding to their maternity and birth photos. I have had clients who become life long friends. I’ve captured friends branding/business photos and I’ve captured those same clients/friends as they’re brought new life into the world. I’ve captured countless “fresh 48” galleries and held clients hands in the hardest part of childbirth while capturing the closest thing to the veil between heaven and earth as they brought their sweet baby into the world. I’ve cried while photographing a new mom’s newborn session as we wrapped that baby in a rainbow swaddle to embrace and capture that after many losses, her miracle rainbow baby is finally here. I’ve also held moms and captured photos that would be all a mom has left from a baby born sleeping in heaven. I’ve capture photos of clients that later turned into obituary photos. I’ve captured family photos of a chronically sick client with her family who had no idea what her future held and I’ve had clients taken too soon who’s family treasure the family
Photos we took a few months prior as their last keepsakes of that loved one. I’ve captured friends with their last few minutes with their fur babies. I’ve captured and got to be apart of two of my nephews coming into the world (one of the most rewarding moments). I’ve capture women in a portrait session when they just needed someone to help them feel confident. I’ve donated to nearly any organization and cause that has ever asked. BUT also- while this career is about me serving others, this career has also allowed me to stay home the last three years to raise my babies. It’s allowed me to back off a while I transitioned into motherhood and come back like I never left as soon as I was ready. It’s helped me support my family and make ends meet after a tough year of endless medical bills and health issues within our household. It’s brought me friends from all over the country and a creative space that so deeply resonates with my heart. The typical time span on a photographer career is a median of 3-5 years, so 10 years is such a special milestone to me. In a vastly changing world with a very over saturated market- I hope my little “side gig” continues to be what my heart desires for another 10 years.
