Farewells and New Adventures!
Wow! What a year 2020 was! Talk about not seeing any of that coming! Pandemics, lock downs, masks, home school, I know you guys were feeling the crazies too!
2020 was definitely bittersweet. I started the year with full intentions of continuing to grow my photography business. I put so much work into this venture and it only seemed natural to keep trucking away. When the pandemic started and the initial lockdowns happened, I honestly was a little relieved. I had gotten so busy between my photography business and still working my full-time job, that I was missing out on a lot of family time. The momentum of my business had grown and my pictures were finally the quality that I had been working so diligently to achieve. I was so wrapped up in being successful, that I was killing myself. I ignored my health and missed out of valuable time with my kids. So when I knew that I was forced to not do sessions, I was excited to have a break. I was excited to be “locked” in the house with my littles with little to do.
The silver lining of 2020 was I was forced to slow down. I enjoyed not being as busy. I enjoyed the extra time with my family. I thought long and hard about this over the last 7 months, but I have made the decision to close my business and stop taking clients permanently. This was not an easy decision, as I truly love photography and creating memories for others. It is therapeutic to me. A creative outlet. But with the type of photography I like to create, I am away from my family a lot of evenings when I do client work and that is not something I am willing to sacrifice right now. I will continue to photograph my children to create memories for us that I hope to share with you. And I hope those images inspire you to make your own memories.
So with that sad news….I do have some exciting news also! Over the next few months you guys will see me post about some new ventures I’ll be trying out. Over the next few months, I hope to make my full-time job as a nurse practitioner in a clinic a part-time job. That will equal more time to do a few other things I have up my sleeve.
Don’t be surprised if you see me start talking about real estate as I just might get my real estate license and help my husband with his business. And the most exciting of all, I have joined a concierge skin care company called The Skin Clique. I will be using my knowledge and skills as a nurse practitioner to offer skin care services such as facial peels, neuromodulators (aka Botox), and medical grade skin care products. So while I am saying farewell to one venture, I ask you to follow me through my next. It’s so exciting and I can’t wait to share more! Soon I will deactivate my photography page and will be making a new page all about skin! Stay tuned to learn more about the services and amazing skin products I can help you with!

Oh to be two...almost three again! Yes she's catching the last few sprinkles with her tongue! She actually just turned 3 last week (these images were taken a few weeks ago). She loves these rain boots and I don't have the heart to tell her that they are not going to fit much longer. When she picked them out, all I could think of was how colorful they were and how they would clash with everything! Now, these little strawberry rain boots will remembered fondly by even me...They suit her and not as ugly as I once thought they were!

The only thing that could have been better is if you could see the joy on my son's face. He was loving trying to make his splashes bigger and bigger with each jump...eagerly wanting to see the back of my camera for proof on his success!

Raise your hand if you secretly cringe when your kids want to go play in the rain? My mind immediately goes to how dirty they will be and the mud that might get tracked into the house. I try to let those thoughts go from time to time, and just let them have at it! The memories we make (messes and all) are completely worth it in the end. This is my Ellie, racing ahead of the rest of us, pigtails swinging when called to slow down.

Isn't the texture of dying flowers amazing? This little rose was gorgeous in color so I am sure I will post those soon. But this shot just felt good in black and white so here it is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These are real rain drops on a real branch, in the middle of the day. After the storm, the sun had come out and it was bright and strong. Shying away from the brightness of the midday sun, in the shadows, I found this little green branch lined with droplets. I loved the moody black and white conversion as the focus is only on the little drops which is what drew me to this little branch to begin with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I guess I've got the Monday blues because I feeling a little moody and liking some black and white images today! This sad little dying flower was beautiful at it's peak, but to me, was even more beautiful in it's decline. While I don't covert many of my macro shots to black and white, this conversion just seemed to fit the mood and the subject perfectly.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Going to pick fruit has been the highlight of our summer. First we picked strawberries in early spring and then blackberries a few weeks later. We've also picked peaches recently which didn't go so well with taking pictures, but I'll share those later! These were the plumpest and sweetest blackberries I have every had. They made excellent blackberries mojitos (kids wouldn't know) and our new favorite summertime dessert....blackberry cheesecake bars. What's your favorite summertime dessert?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These two are like two peas in a pod. I am grateful of their friendship and hope they stay forever best friends. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
