Willie Reigstad Park in Sunburg was the 64th stop on my ongoing tour of Minnesota's amateur baseball fields.
I visited a week ago Sunday when the Norway Lake-Sunburg Lakers played host to the Atwater Chuckers, a team whose home field I photographed earlier in the season.
Sunburg's park is named after a longtime local resident who was dedicated to amateur baseball. And the field is classic "town ball," with rustic structures and a grain facility in right field that provides a constant reminder of what keeps the local economy moving.
The game itself was a thriller -- a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th to tie the score, and a top-of-the-10th home run that almost hit me as I was repositioning in the outfield.
It was a sunny and pretty warm day, but I got some good photos to tell a story of the place. Here are some. More fields and photos to come!
