As a child, I spent many solitary days exploring the pastures around my home, discovering nature at its' best. Surrounded by farm animals and native creatures of S. Texas, I was comfortable tromping through fields in my cowboy boots, hopping on my horse and taking off to nowhere. In reflecting on who "I am", I see my love for nature runs deep and I'm seeing it in a "new" way through the lens of a camera. Developing a composition that not only pleases the eye but speaks to the heart is an expression of my love for the beauty on our earth. It is breathtaking and awe-inspiring. Just before the sun set, in this gorgeous meadow at the base of the Tetons, this bull elk wandered in on these females.

This recent trip to the Tetons was the "trip of the moose"! Definitely the most moose I have ever encountered there- and a couple of times, I needed to steer clear and widen the path. We saw a momma moose and her calf crossing the river, but we didn't see the big bull watching them from behind the trees in the forest. As they started to cross the river, he made his appearance known and headed in our direction. Of course, we cleared out to give him (and us!) space, but it made for a really exciting encounter.

Another dreamy scene taken during sunrise on the day I flew home. It was a beautiful conclusion to my quick trip. When I look at this image, there's just something about it that takes me away.

Oh be still, my beating heart!
The Tetons, in all their grandeur and wonder, leave my spirit so fulfilled. It's really a place like no other to me. It lit my passion for photography many moons ago, in wanting to capture the enormous beauty and bring a little of it home with me. And each time I return, I get all filled up again, yearning and wanting to plan my return. It is a magical place.

I'm back from the Tetons and while I work on those pics, I still have so many to share from my recent trip to Tanzania.

Let's start with these lazy lions. I'd heard and believed that lions don't take to the trees unless its absolutely necessary. In , I learned differently! While they aren't built for climbing quite like leopards, they will climb to rest, cool off, escape biting insects, or get a better view of their surrounds. As I captured here, it was all about R&R, as these kitties looked pretty comfy up in this tree.
