Our homestead journey began in 2004 on Hammond Ave, raising our three daughters alongside the land. In 2021, we added chickens to the family.

We share 20+ years of local passion through photography, handmade creations, and farm-fresh eggs.

🐾 Huge thank you to Critter Harbor! 🐾

We wanted to share a wonderful update and give a massive shout-out to Critter Harbor for helping us with a big problem! A couple of weeks ago, they needed help rehoming and fostering a colony of cats, and we hesitated welcomed two sweet ladies into our lives.

Both girls were spayed, released by their vet, and came home to us that very Friday night. They are incredibly friendly, loving, and have been such a joy to have around.

Yesterday, we picked up their outdoor cat house and chatted with a few more of our neighbors. We are so happy to say that these girls are getting along beautifully with our other animals, loving their neighbors, and have officially found a safe place to call home here! 🏡❤️

As an added bonus, our neighbors mentioned they’ve been dealing with a rat problem for the past 3 years, so we hope these girls keep up the wonderful work! Best of all, they are extremely gentle and tolerant of our grandbabies. 👶🐾

Thank you again, Critter Harbor, for our beautiful community cats and their awesome new home! 😻✨

What a whirlwind of a week! We had planned to take some time off for a final end-of-summer camping trip, but the universe clearly had other plans for us.Meet Pumpkin and Spice! 🐱🍂 They are two sweet community cats looking for a permanent home base (like a barn, farm, or garage). We agreed to foster them in the meantime, and they are honestly the friendliest "barn cats" I’ve ever met! They were just spayed and vetted over a week ago and are already getting along great with our chickens—though Charles is still a little unsure about his new roommates.It was a week of big changes and full hearts as we officially started our empty nester journey last week. We kept busy refreshing the house, celebrating Julie’s birthday, pet sitting, hosting family movie night, and squeezing in some fun local adventures.Sadly, we also had to say goodbye to Happy, our sweet chicken. Julie had been treating and caring for her ever since she suffered a suspected heat stroke during June's heatwave and poor air quality days. We will miss her dearly.After such a busy week, we are ready to slow down. If you want to join us for some end-of-summer relaxation, watch the animals play, and sip on some cold water, tea, or coffee, please reach out! Our porch is always open. ☀️☕️

Meet Pumpkin and Spice! They are our foster cats. These two are marked as Barn/Garage cats but they are extremely friendly. Critter Harbor has been helping them and over 60 other cats find their forever homes. If you are interested in helping them please reach out to me or Critter Harbor for more information.

Today was a great day with our girls and a couple of the Grandkids. We used our day for visiting and making jam. We decided to document our biggest and smallest eggs ever laid here.

Today was a good day. I did a small batch of cherry picking and collected our eggs. I see we have some new layers.
Anyone know what I’m planning to make tomorrow with these ingredients? Hint it will be gluten free.

Our crew is trying to beat the heat. Lots of shade, watering the soil making mud areas, spraying off their coop with the water hose and opening every door window and nest boxes to try and get the air moving.
They don’t like their feet wet in the pool or ice floating around.
We hope everyone is able to beat the heat tomorrow too.

My first attempt at Honeyberry Jam! It turned it so good. I wish I had more honey berries.

Go to Farm LoLa and pick their honey berries. Rinse and de-stem berries and get all of your ingredients ready.
Honey berries 258g
Sugar 129g
Lemon Juice 1 Tbsp
Optional Honey 1 to 2 Tbsp (added right at the end to substitute part of the sugar
Place all ingredients into pot simmer until temperature reaches 220. Add honey to taste.
Place in sterilized jam jars.
