A couple more from Avery’s session because I just love these!

And a big thank you to all of my clients for being so patient with me this last weeks while I took some time to be with my family and deal with the loss of my grandma. I truly appreciate every kind message, every bit of understanding, and everyone who gave me a little extra grace.

September might be one of my favorite months for photos around here. 🤍

The evenings are getting softer, there’s still plenty of green, and we’re starting to get just a hint of fall without being fully into October busy season yet.

I have a handful of September session dates still available for families, seniors, couples + maternity sessions.

And one little September perk: my editing calendar is currently in a really good place, which means you can expect your finished gallery in about two weeks.

So if photos have been sitting on your “we really need to do that” list, September is a pretty lovely time to make it happen.

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is figuring out what brings out the real person in front of my camera.

Sometimes we start a little quiet.

Then we walk. We talk. Mom says something. I say something ridiculous. Everyone starts laughing.

And somewhere along the way, they stop thinking quite so much about the camera.

Making Mayzie laugh was one of my favorite parts of her session because those are the expressions I love—the ones that feel like someone you actually know.

So moms, here's something I'd genuinely love to know:

If I were photographing your senior and needed to get their REAL laugh—not the “Mom told me to smile” smile—what could you say that would work every single time?

I have a feeling the answers to this could be pretty good. 😂

One location. So many completely different looks.

That's one of the things I loved about photographing Mayzie at Dolsen Farms.

There were the obvious things that made it perfect for her session—especially having room to include her horse—but some of my favorite photographs came from the smaller details.

Dark green leaves climbing a silo.

Soft, even light in a spot we might have walked right past.

Different textures and backgrounds just a short distance from each other.

When I'm photographing a senior, I'm constantly looking at the light and what's around us. Sometimes moving ten feet gives us an entirely different photograph.

That's also why you don't need to know exactly where to stand or what spot will photograph best before your session.

That's my part.

You get to show up, and we'll explore together.

You don’t need a big reason to update your family photos.
Sometimes the reason is simply that the kids are bigger, life has been full, and you want a few photos of everyone together before another season passes.
That’s exactly what Fall Minis are for.
Short, relaxed, gently guided, and easy.
Fall Mini Sessions are happening Saturday, October 3rd at Amnicon Falls. These sessions are tucked into the pines with pretty fall evening light and are perfect for families who want updated photos without planning a full portrait session.
Only 6 spots are available for this date. Once those are filled, I’ll open a waitlist and may add another date if there’s enough interest.

Senior season is definitely here.

August evenings are filling with seniors, outfit bags, moms carrying all the things, location exploring, lots of laughs—and some really beautiful light.
