On July 6th over 1,000 lightning strikes touched down across Northern Minnesota, sparking over a dozen wildfires from Ely to the Boundary Waters. As of today, over 64,000 acres have burned and the fires remain very active.

Over the last two weeks, I have had the privilege of capturing some of the crews and communities impacted by the wildfires. From the front lines, to miles away, these crews are working 12 to 14 hour days fighting the flames and setting up structure protection for the homes closest to the fires. Over 1,000 personnel have been assigned to the region, many of which are volunteers and from out of state. The community has also showed up in a big way, setting up signs of appreciation all over the region and creating resource groups for anyone impacted.
