Grace After the Rain

I noticed something quietly beautiful about our canna lily after the rain the other day. While its petals were softened by the rain droplets, it was still reaching toward the light.

Resilience doesn’t always have to be bold. Sometimes it simply means continuing to bloom, carrying the evidence of the storm with grace.

Softness and strength can live beautifully together.

Life is Layered

A walk amongst the transitioning garden reminded me that beauty doesn’t always come from perfect clarity. Sometimes, it is found in the overlapping, the memories, the changes, the joys and losses, and the quiet traces of what has touched our lives.

Perhaps we are all a little like this fiery orange cosmos flower that brought me joy the other day: rooted in what has been, illuminated by what is, and still opening toward what may come.

Since my post surgery doc orders were to lift nothing heavier than a remote control, and my urge to capture and create was running high this weekend as I looked at this beautiful “thinking of you” arrangement , I turned to my iPhone for some image creating.

Our darn cats eat pretty flowers if unattended so, the bouquet and I were banished to the driveway for short stints this weekend.

Busy as a Bee

I spotted this Eastern Carpenter Bee, busy as a bee on an Obedient plant.

Last October Suwanee was designated a National Bee City, reflecting Suwanee’s efforts to support native wildlife habitats, reduce pesticide use, and engage residents in wildlife education and conservation.

Pollination and bee boxes can be spotted around our community.

Pollinators such as native bees, wasps, moths, butterflies, and other beneficial insects support the reproduction of over 85% of flowering plants and contribute to the health of our environment, our food systems, and the beauty of Suwanee’s green spaces.

Unsteady Legs

Some of life's most beautiful moments happen without fanfare.
Tonight this white-tailed doe paused just long enough for her spotted fawn to catch up as it cautiously explored a world that is both beautiful and uncertain.

Even in neighborhoods where wildlife and people share the landscape, these gentle families continue to inspire us with their resilience and grace. May we always leave room for these moments and for the wild neighbors who remind us that hope often arrives on unsteady legs.

And may this little one find rest and safety during the day strategically tucked amidst the foliage of our yards and safely cross the busy streets of Suwanee.

As I paused with my camera to admire and capture the beauty of the irises blooming along a neighbors driveway this morning, I noticed something tender happening.

One bloom fully open, reaching outward and just beneath it another waiting quietly, held, sheltered, almost protected as it prepares to unfurl.

This bearded iris reminds us that we are often both at once
the one blooming, and the one still becoming.
