I don't think I've ever shared or posted this photo before. It was shot in September 2023 during live burn training that Swayzee Volunteer Fire Department was doing. This photo was taken inside the burn container, where temps can easily push 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. The purpose of this training is to get a firsthand look at fire behavior inside a structure, in particular elements such as thermal layering. They also get to train with hoses and tecniques to attack fires, and it helps new firefighters learn to trust their gear in fire environments and to understand that they absolutely will still feel the heat through that gear.
