kinda chic to set boundaries ✨
Every year I learn a little more about what it takes for me to not only run a successful business, but a successful life.
This year, that’s looked like:
✨ Two computers, two headspaces. Weddings on one, sessions on the other. My brain LOVES being able to bounce between the two, and somehow it’s made me so much more efficient + prevents me from getting stuck and distracted.
✨ A schedule I actually stick to. I primarily take sessions on Thursdays, one Sunday a month, and Mini Mondays (and of course, weddings). Some weeks look a little different, but having that structure means I know when I’m shooting, when I’m editing, and when I’m actually off. It’s given me specific days to catch up on work AND specific days to spend meaningful time with friends & family.
✨ Learning to say no. Probably the hardest one for me. I’ve always been the person who will find a way to squeeze something in, even when there really isn’t room. Now I’m saying no to things that aren’t a perfect fit or would disrupt the schedule I’ve worked so hard to create.
The best part is that getting better at structuring my time has given me more capacity for my actual life. I’m not constantly trying to make a deadline or outsourcing little things just to keep my head above water.
Still learning, still adjusting, still breaking my own rules sometimes - but FINALLY said goodbye to burnout! ✨
