It’s the FRIDAY FIVE! SWIPE ⬅️ to learn the FIVE THINGS that inspire Robert Searing, Curator of History at the Onondaga Historical Association. Special thanks to our friends at for helping bring important stories like Bob’s to life each and every week in the FRIDAY FIVE!

If you love Syracuse history, chances are you’ve come across Bob’s work. Whether through his weekly columns in Syracuse.com and The Post-Standard, his “Repeating History” podcast on WCNY, or one of the many museums he helps oversee through the Onondaga Historical Association, Bob has a gift for making history feel relevant, accessible, and alive.

What I admire most about Bob is his passion for preserving and sharing the stories that make our community unique. Under his leadership, OHA has expanded its reach through destinations like the Regional Aviation History Museum, the Brewseum, the Onondaga Veterans Museum, and the Skä•noñh Great Law of Peace Center. He reminds us that understanding where we’ve been helps us better appreciate where we’re going. These are the FIVE THINGS that inspire him.

Special thanks to Bob for participating in this week’s FRIDAY FIVE and to our friends at for helping bring important stories like Bob’s to life each and every week in the FRIDAY FIVE!

P.S. Tag someone you’d like to see in a future FRIDAY FIVE.

Let’s be real…it may not have been pretty, BUT the is BACK this FRIDAY and SATURDAY (and thank God!). It’s one of my favorite events and one of our biggest “roll out the carpet” events for downtown.

Taste of Syracuse returns to Downtown Syracuse this Friday and Saturday, June 5 & 6, filling Clinton Square and the surrounding streets with incredible local food, live music, and the chance to sample dishes from dozens of vendors for just $2.

Come hungry, bring your friends, and experience the flavors that make Central New York so unique.

SWIPE ⬅️ Well... here we are again.

Turns out when you’ve spent years flying a drone around Central New York, narrowing down your favorite views is nearly impossible.

So welcome to Part 3 of the Syracuse Lookbook.

A few more scenes that have earned a permanent spot in my camera roll. Some are landmarks. Some are hidden gems. Some just happened to catch the right light at the right moment.

No matter how many places I visit, these views always remind me how special this corner of New York really is.

Which one are you stopping on this time?

One of my favorite things about this time of year in Upstate New York...

From now until the end of August, the sun won’t set before 8 PM.

That’s nearly three months of long evenings, golden light, after-dinner adventures, and the feeling that the day still has plenty left to give.

Summer in Upstate New York really is something special. Make the most of every sunset.

SWIPE ⬅️ Apparently I have a problem.

After yesterday’s Syracuse Lookbook, I realized there was no way I was fitting all of my favorite aerial views into a single post.

So here’s Part 2.

A few more views that have stuck with me over the years while exploring Central New York from above. Some are well known. Some are easy to overlook. All of them remind me just how lucky we are to call this place home.

Which one gets your vote this time around?

SWIPE ⬅️ People ask me all the time what my FAVORITE view in Syracuse is.

Honestly? I can never pick just ONE.

One day it’s a sunrise over downtown. The next it’s Green Lakes, Onondaga Lake, the University Hill skyline, or some random neighborhood that looks incredible from 400 feet up.
So rather than try to choose, I pulled together a few favorites for this edition of my Syracuse Lookbook.

These are the views that make me grateful to spend so much time exploring Central New York from above.

Curious... which one are you picking?

It’s the FRIDAY FIVE! SWIPE ⬅️ to learn the FIVE THINGS that inspire Sarah Pelligrini, owner of in downtown Syracuse. Special thanks to our friends at for helping bring stories like Sarah’s to life each and every week with the FRIDAY FIVE!

Sarah is one of those people who sees possibility where others see obstacles. Over the past two decades, she has built a remarkable career spanning real estate, hospitality, business development, coaching, and community building. From helping more than 600 families navigate the home buying process, to coaching business owners across the country, to co-founding and helping transform it into one of the most celebrated restaurants in the region, earning recognition from Wine Spectator and the prestigious DiRōNA Award, Sarah has a rare ability to turn vision into reality.

What I admire most is that every chapter of her journey seems connected by the same belief: great things happen when you invest in people. Whether she’s advising clients, building businesses, or helping shape the future of our community, Sarah leads with both heart and intention. These are the FIVE THINGS that inspire her.

Thank you to Sarah for participating in this week’s FRIDAY FIVE, and thank you again to for helping bring important stories like Sarah’s to life each and every week.

P.S. Tag someone you’d like to see in a future FRIDAY FIVE.

So many beautiful neighborhoods around us in Syracuse and Central New York. And if you think not, you’re not looking closely enough.

Warm nights like tonight make me dream of WHAT IF…what if the decided to have built their baseball stadium downtown? There was a plan to do so at one point…can you imagine?
