You already know this season won't last. That's usually why you reach out.

What I've noticed after photographing families in their homes is that the parents who worry most about getting it 'right' are often the ones who relax the fastest once we actually get started. Because real life takes over, and real life photographs beautifully.

Ten years ago yesterday, my husband and I signed the papers on the house he grew up in.

I've been thinking about everything that's happened inside these walls. Big career moments. A full remodel, room by room. Watching our kids hit milestone after milestone. The playground we built when the world made us slow down. The yard my husband tends to like it's his third child 😏

It's not a big house. It's not a fancy house. But it's ours, and it holds a lot.

Some of my favorite pictures I've ever taken of my kids were made right here - in the morning light through that one window, in the chaos of a regular Tuesday, in the quiet corners that look like nothing and mean everything.

And yet - aside from newborn photos for both kids - I've never asked to have our family photos taken here. In the place where we actually live.

That's changing this year. If I'm going to ask you to let your home be the backdrop for something worth remembering, I better be willing to do the same.

Your home doesn't need to be ready. It just needs to be yours 🫶

Stop thinking of a session as something you have to get through.

It's not a task on your list. It's not a thing you schedule because you're supposed to.

It's time set aside just for your family, to exist together in your own space without the rush of a regular day.

When families shift that mindset, something changes. They stop trying to manage the moment and start actually being in it.

That's when the real photos happen.

It can be hard to know which photographer is “right” for you - especially when everyone’s work looks beautiful and the internet is full of highlights.

But looking at photos is just one part of it. How it actually felt to be in them? That matters too.

The right fit is less about photos that impress strangers, and more about working with someone who helps you feel comfortable, seen, and a little more like yourself.

You deserve that kind of experience - whether it’s with me or someone else! 💜

One month from today! This is the only day I'll be offering mini sessions this year.

If a quick session is what you're looking for, I'll be at Point Definace Park near Owen Beach in the morning and Curran Apple Orchard in the afternoon on October 12th 🍂🍎

Each session is 15 minutes and includes at least 10 images - but knowing me, you'll likely get more :)
