Since I am a full time college student in addition to being a photographer, I decided to chase one more steam locomotive before heading back to school for the fall. So I made my way over to the town of Philipsburg, NJ to chase NYSW 142, an engine I have never gotten the chance to shoot before. Overall it was a great day with great light. As it so happened, it was also the final run of engineer Don Young, a rail veteran with 60 years of service, and the engine was decorated with a banner to celebrate that. Enjoy your well-earned retirement Don!

Yesterdays Strasburg activities with N&W 475. While I unfortunately didn’t have my Z5 on me, I thought these phone pictures didn’t come out horrendously. As a welcome surprise, diesel 8618 was pulling a freight run which followed shortly behind the first run.

While on a drive to points south, I stopped off in the small town of Cove, PA, to get gas and shoot a few trains. I was in luck, as the first (and only) train I saw there was this westbound intermodal train with the Norfolk & Western heritage unit leading.

My videos from the big boy’s eastern tour are now live on my YouTube channel. I’ve linked part 2 to this post as it is the most action-packed, but if you’ve got the time part 1 is worth a watch. Hope you all enjoy!

Since I’ve officially reached 113 followers, I figured it would be appropriate to upload these photos I took in 2021 and 2022 of the CNJ 113 pulling the Minersville Christmas trains on the Reading & Northern railroad.

About a year ago, myself and a couple friends took a trip up north for a charter train on the Saratoga, Corinth, and Hudson railroad, to shoot the ex-D&H RS3s that formerly ran on the Delaware-Lackawanna railroad in Scranton, PA. As much as I enjoy shooting steam locomotives, it’s hard to beat two vintage diesels making track speed with a full train in tow.

With the big boy officially on its way west, I figured I would go out and chase it one more time. I caught it on its journey between Philadelphia and Harrisburg as it traversed the NS Harrisburg and Pittsburgh lines. Two days of chasing it halfway across the state made for some pretty good pictures. Enjoy these pictures of the 4014, plus the NS trains that passed along the way.
