Stronger Than Yesterday | I Survived Every Climb & Raced to the Finish 🔥 | Indoor Cycling Race

Yesterday the climbs taught me a lesson. Today I came back a better cyclist.

Three laps. Rolling hills. Attacks. Gaps to close. And nearly 90 minutes of hard racing.

This time, when the short climbs came, I didn't automatically drop into the small chainring. I stayed in the big ring when the race demanded speed, stood on the pedals, applied torque, and stayed competitive with the group through every climb.

The numbers tell the story:

⚡ 268 W average power
🔥 667 W max power
❤️ 154 bpm average / 172 bpm max
⚙️ 106 rpm average cadence
🏁 1:29:55 racing
⛰️ 1,657 ft elevation gain
💥 506 W for 1 min — NEW PR
💥 437 W for 2 min — NEW PR

With about 5 km remaining, the race became even harder. A gap opened. I closed it. The legs were tired afterward, but I kept racing, kept pedaling and still sprinted toward the finish.

The biggest victory wasn't a finishing position.

Yesterday exposed a weakness. Today we turned that lesson into a new racing skill.

Cadence commands. Torque obeys. Power is the result.

Every training session matters. Every race teaches us something. Every repetition builds the cyclist.

Stronger than yesterday. One percent better every day.

I Got Dropped — But Set a New PR | MyWhoosh 2026 UCI Men’s Open Qualifier 2

Two months into racing again, and today I had the privilege of lining up for the MyWhoosh 2026 UCI Men’s Open Qualifier 2.

I made the fast start with the group and stayed there until the climb. That’s where I made a decision that became today’s biggest lesson.

I shifted to the small chainring, but my power dropped below what was required to stay with the acceleration. The group was pushing hard, the gap opened, and I was dropped.

But my race wasn’t over.

I kept chasing all the way to the finish — not riding easy, but continuing to compete. I finished with 279 W average power for over one hour, 107 rpm average cadence, a new lifetime 1-hour power PR, and improved my 5-minute power to 4.06 W/kg.

I didn’t qualify this year. And that’s okay.

Cycling is a process. Every race gives us information. Today I learned something about gearing, power, cadence and making decisions under race pressure that no training session could teach me the same way.

The biggest lesson: getting dropped doesn’t mean you stop racing. Finish what you start. Keep chasing. Keep learning. Keep building.

Today I was chasing them. Maybe one day, someone else will be chasing me.

Pre-Race Cycling Activation | Wake Up the Legs Without Creating Fatigue

A pre-race workout isn’t about getting fitter the day before competition—the training has already been done. The goal is to activate the legs, maintain a fast and efficient cadence, stimulate the cardiovascular and neuromuscular systems, and arrive at the start line ready without carrying unnecessary fatigue.

Today’s Chávez Cycling Pre-Race Activation was executed with presence and precision: nearly 58 minutes, controlled power, 108 rpm average cadence, 108 bpm average heart rate, and short power increases to wake up the system without turning the session into another hard training day.

And Pre-Race doesn’t mean “Saturday workout.” It means the workout performed the day before competition. If the race is Saturday, activation comes Friday. If the race is Sunday, it comes Saturday. The schedule adapts to the race while the purpose remains the same.

Months of consistent training build the engine. The day before the race, we don’t try to build more fitness—we prepare that engine to perform.

Tomorrow the objective is simple: trust the work, read the race, respect the cadence and breathing, and let the legs do their job.

The cadence commands. The torque obeys. Power is the result. The cyclist floats.

High-Cadence Endurance + Race Intervals | Building the Engine Month After Month

Endurance builds the engine. High cadence teaches us how to use it. Repeated efforts prepare us to race.

Today’s Chávez Cycling structured session combined 4 sustained endurance blocks around 225 watts with 3 short 1-minute efforts around 380 watts, performed with a strong focus on high cadence, reaching approximately 120 RPM during the working sections.

Why train this way?

In a real race, the pace is rarely constant. You may be riding efficiently with the group and suddenly need to respond to an acceleration, close a gap, follow an attack, get over a short climb, or reposition yourself — and then recover while continuing to ride.

That is what we are developing month after month: the ability to maintain an efficient aerobic rhythm, increase cadence and controlled torque when the race demands more power, and then settle back into rhythm without losing control.

Today wasn't about chasing one big number. It was about repetition, consistency and ex*****on. Cadence controlled. Breathing controlled. Power applied when required.

This is why structured training matters. One workout doesn't build a cyclist. Consistently executing the right work over weeks and months creates adaptation.

Hill Repeats That Build Race Fitness | Cadence, Power & Cycling Efficiency

Hill repeats aren't just about pushing harder — they're about teaching your body to produce power efficiently, recover, and repeat the effort again and again.

Today's structured hill-repeat session was executed with 114 RPM average cadence, controlled power intervals around 225 watts, and an average heart rate of 123 BPM. The goal wasn't maximum power. It was precision: maintaining cadence, controlling breathing, applying the right amount of torque, and allowing power to become the result.

Week after week, repeating structured training gives the body an opportunity to adapt. What once required concentration begins to feel more natural. Cadence becomes smoother, breathing becomes more controlled, and repeated efforts become easier to manage.

That's exactly what we need in racing. A race doesn't ask for one climb — it asks you to accelerate, climb, recover, close gaps, and do it again.

The lesson from today's training:

Cadence leads. Torque responds. Power is the result. And when everything works together, the cyclist begins to float.

Consistency creates adaptation. Don't chase one extraordinary workout. Build fitness by executing the right work, week after week.
