Pictures-R-Us, Inc. began in 1996 when J.J. Kornaski Photography (McSherrystown, PA) and Zinn’s Service Center (Taneytown, MD) joined forces. Jerry Kornaski brought his many years of photographic and darkroom/photo-laboratory experience to the new business. Michele (Zinn) Jones brought her enthusiasm and passion for photography along with a willingness to learn a new aspect of the business. Pictures-R-Us has been a family effort from the beginning. Jerry, his wife and their three daughters along with Michele, her young family, parents, and brother all began this new adventure together. With this collaboration, Pictures-R-Us became the only full-time youth sports photographers in Carroll County and the greater Hanover (PA) area.
In 1998, Michele wanted to focus on portrait work and started Fine Portraiture by Michele a division of Pictures-R-Us, Inc. By 2000, Jerry and Michele felt that trying to focus on two distinct and separate businesses was a drain on their creative and financial resources; they decided to amicably part ways. Being able to focus on just one business, Jerry was able to expand the business to include not just sports but other groups, clubs and schools.
Sadly, in the Fall of 2006, Jerry passed away suddenly. His wife and daughters, with the help of their friends and family were able to finish the Fall photography season. There was never any doubt that his family would continue his legacy. His wife and youngest daughter Tanya became the owners, with Tanya taking over the day-to-day operations. His daughter Rebecca would continue as the primary photo-laboratory technician. His daughter Kimberly would continue as a photographer. Carrie Weant, whom Jerry often referred to as his adopted daughter, joined as the League Liaison and primary photographer. Under Tanya’s leadership, Pictures-R-Us continues to grow.
While Pictures-R-Us has become synonymous with youth sports photography we provide many other services. We also photograph preschools/daycares, dance studios, and swim clubs. We photograph and print on-site for different events. Some of our clients include: Westminster City Parks & Recreation Dept., Winfield Rec. Dept., Westminster Historical Society of Carroll County and Shore Leave Sci-Fi Convention in Hunt Valley.
