One of my favorite days in the desert with Anna, Blake, and their two pups—wandering the red rocks of Moab.

Moab is an adventure for pups and their humans. From desert trails to riverfront walks, there are plenty of spots where dogs can explore alongside their owners and enjoy the wide-open landscape. Many hiking spots welcome leashed dogs, and local cafes, lodges, and even some shops roll out the welcome mat for four-legged visitors.

If you’re planning to explore Moab’s national parks with your pups, it’s important to plan ahead. Dogs are only allowed in parking areas, picnic spots, and along paved roads, so they can’t join you on most trails. Bringing plenty of water, shade, and planning shorter adventures around pet-friendly areas will keep your furry friends safe and happy while you soak in the desert views.

Whether it’s chasing red rock trails, splashing in the Colorado River, or just soaking up the desert sunsets, Moab makes it easy for pups to join in on the fun. Just be sure to bring plenty of water!
