Even before your elopement day, I am out with my boots on the ground scouting to find the best locations for you. Because where you say, your vows matters and the location should be as beautiful as the commitment you were about to make to one another.

What does eloping really look like Like? It looks like slow mornings, meaningful moments, quiet, landscapes, and a wedding day designed around the two of you, not a timeline filled with expectations. It looks like exchanging vows in a place that feels sacred, celebrating without rushing, and having the freedom to spend your day in a way that feels true to you. Elopement isn’t about doing less. It’s about making space for what matters most to you.

Would you choose a wedding day like this?

An unforgettable celebration of love and timeless beauty. Every detail reflected the grace and connection these two share. It was an honor to capture the beginning of their next chapter.

Choosing what to wear on your elopement day is one of the most important decisions you can make. If you work with me, likely we will be in the mountains so having comfortable shoes and address you can move in will make your day so much more comfortable. Also, in the mountains, we can have a cold sunrise and a very warm day. Planning for layers will help. Keep you comfortable no matter what we encounter for weather. I have so many tips and tricks for your elopement. If you’d like to chat more check out my website.

If you’re new here, welcome. I’m Betsy. 👋

I’m the face behind Betsy, J Photography, and if you’ve spent any time scrolling through my work, you’ve probably noticed a few things. I love mountains, quiet, moments, golden light, and couples who choose to do things their own way.

I photograph elopement and intimate weddings throughout Colorado, with a special love for the San Juan mountains. These mountains aren’t just where I work, they are part of my story. They’ve been a place of adventure, healing, and perspective throughout my life, and sharing them with couples is one of my favorite joys.

The best elopements aren’t about rushing from one photo location to the next. They’re about slowing down, taking in the view, holding hands a little bit longer, laughing until your cheeks hurt, and having space to actually experience your wedding day.

When you work with me, you’re getting more than a photographer. I’m your location, scout, timeline planner, local guide, weather watcher, and calm presence when things don’t go exactly according to plan.

As a local to the San Juan mountains, I know these places inside and out. I find solitude and peace in them and there are so many amazing locations I want to share with you.

A few things about me:
🤩 I believe the most meaningful moments are the quietest ones.
🤩 never get tired of sunset in the mountains
🤩I know the hidden corners of the San Juan mountains that most visitors never find and can’t wait to share them with you
🤩 I’d choose a dirt road over a crowded wedding every time
🤩 I cry during your vows more often than I’d like to admit.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding day that’s intimate, intentional, and surrounded by incredible scenery you’re in the right place.

I’d love to tell your story ❤️

The Beaumont Hotel in Ouray, Colorado is one of the most stunning hotels. It is centrally locatedim Ouray And has all the vibes of a Colorado Victorian mining town. But step outside it doors and you’re right in the middle of the cutest downtown with the most impressive courthouse just behind for you to get your marriage license. My vote for your Colorado elopement is Ouray Colorado. And my vote for your stay is the Beaumont hotel.

Just because you are eloping, doesn’t mean your wedding day should be a short rushed affair. Here are my five reasons for why you should choose an all day elopement.

1. You don’t have to rush the best day of your life. A full day timeline gives you space to be present instead of watching the clock and feeling rushed all day. You can move through your day naturally without feeling like every moment is scheduled down to the minute.

2. A full day elopement allows you to visit multiple stunning locations. The San Juan mountains are full of incredible places, but they aren’t always right next to each other with a full day. There’s time to explore two or three breathtaking locations for variety of landscapes in your gallery from Alpine Lakes and mountain passes to wildflower, filled Meadows and dramatic overlooks.

3. Time for meaningful experiences. An elopement is more than a ceremony in photos. A full day elopement allows time for activities that reflect your relationship whether that’s a jeep adventure a picnic sharing private vowels, riding a train, hiking to a favorite viewpoint or celebrating the champagne at sunset

4. Better light better photos. The most beautiful light typically happens around the sunrise and sunset. A full day package makes it easier to plan your day around one of these golden hour windows. I’m still having plenty of Time for the rest of your celebration

5. Telling your story in a way that feels complete. Instead of only documenting the ceremony a full day loading captures the full story from the anticipation of getting ready to emotional vows to the quiet moment afterwards when everything sinks in that you were married, your gallery becomes a complete visual narrative of the day not just a collection of pictures.

And there’s a bonus. If you’re inviting a small group of family or friends a full day, elopement provides enough flexibility to include a ceremony with loved ones while still carving out private time for the two of you to explore and celebrate together.
