I am in love with my daughter's "take my picture" moment!

Since she was born, it's been "let mommy take a picture" or "don't use your fake smile." -- Then it turned into "ewww I don't like that" or "gross I hate my hair". -- Now it's "oh my gosh I love that!" & "mom can we take a picture over here?!"

I took a moment today to write a short poem about my photography moments in motherhood, motherhood that began with her β™₯️

She's was reason to click pause,
her tiny toes and wrinkled nose.
She is still the reason I click pause,
So I can sit and stare, always in awe.
I am the reason she wants to click pause,
Following in my footsteps, my first to applaud.

Looking through the lens, what do you see?

There is a certain kind of quiet that comes with a new baby.
The whole house seems to slow down.
Everyone speaks a little softer.
Someone is always holding the baby.

There are half-finished cups of coffee, sleepy eyes, tiny stretches, little sounds from the bassinet, and a thousand moments happening in between the ones you thought to photograph.

And somewhere in all of that, a family is becoming something new.

The way your baby fits against your chest.

The way big brother looks over from the other side of the room.

The nursery before it becomes familiar.

The tiny hand wrapped around yours.

The ordinary pieces of a beginning that won’t stay ordinary forever.

Maybe that’s the beauty of photographs. They don’t have to make a moment bigger than it was. Sometimes they just let you see it again.

Once a month, I’ll be opening just 8 mini session spots at The Lens House β€” each month with a different theme, setup, or seasonal feel.
