Black & White. I haven't really appreciated it before. At least not on photos I've taken myself. Modern cameras capture color so well, so vividly, that I've never really wanted to strip that away. Shooting B&W FILM though, that has been a different story. being locked into it. Knowing bright pretty colors won't save an image. Trying to think how I should compose each picture. Im definitely out of my comfort zone. But when I got the pics back from the photo lab... I actually really liked them (well most of them)! I might have to set my digital cameras to B&W more often!

"Old School" So I've been playing off and on with this old '80's film camera for about 6 months now. I can safely say im hooked on it. The metal feel, the tactile feel of all the buttons and dials. The heavy sound of the shutter. I love it!

"Powerful"
The ability to change everything around . Carving twists and turns through rock older than time. The power to give life — and take it away. It captivates anyone who comes near. Grabs your attention. Makes you feel joy, a little fear, and a whole lot of awe.
Stopping at Cumberland Falls in Daniel Boone National Forest on our way home from Gatlinburg was unforgettable. Had I known about the “moonbow” you can see here, I might’ve planned our visit later in the evening. Next time, for sure.

"Tranquil" The Beauty of the mountains, the peace of the woods, it never ceases to amaze me. Something as simple as the sound of a creek rolling through the woods. the absence of cars and road noise. Walking through the Smoky National park with no noise besides my family, and nature, was exactly the reset I needed. I miss the woods. I love the mountains. I need to find time to make it out there more often.

"They really are beautiful aren't they? Stars. Never look at them anymore, but they really are quite.... beautiful." (guess the movie that quote's from 🕶). It's so easy to overlook them. It can be hard to find a place dark enough to see them all. The view from our cabin in Sevierville, Tennessee, back in March, was no different. The light pollution from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, plus all the lights on other cabins kept the Milky Way hidden. But still, what a beautiful view!

"Like Lightning". An idiom people use for things that happen fast. So fast. TOO FAST. That's how this year has felt to me. Moments have come and gone in a flash. Birthdays. Holidays. Work. Vacation. More work. Office remodel. Son being born. More work. Time has flown by like a bolt in the sky lately. A lot of memories made. Only a little time to enjoy them. But I'm finally catching up. Finally able to find the time. What better photo to post after a long hiatus than this. A Timelapse I made during a March vacation to the Smoky Mountains with my family. 770 photos taken during the night, hoping for shooting stars, or a glimpse of the Milky Way . 769 photos of clouds and rain, instead of the stars I was hoping for. But this one. This one flash made the wet camera worth it. One over exposed photo that hid the best nature photo I've ever been lucky enough to capture.

Found a family of Barn Swallows (I think..) while walking around the J.I. Case Wetland Wildlife Refuge in Hawthorn Park. I was glad I got to capture the mother bird bringing the young adults food ( at least I think that's what was going on)
