It’s been awhile guys since I posted bird photos. I’ll be posting so soon. Just me alone in the field enjoying the work today. The morning was already hot but at the same time windy, so it’s not that bad at all. What a day to end this week. Here’s a glimpse of my work in the field.

I was skeptical of the ID since it was my first time seeing this bird (Lifer🙂). It made me think if it’s a Franklin Gull or Laughing Gull? Then, I saw an article that compared both species and thought the distinct pink wash is absent in this Laughing Gull’s chest (in the first picture)— although it can have a little pink (rare at times), but really not prominent as Franklin’s. So, Laughing Gull (adult breeding) it is. Second picture i a juvenile.

This should be the most dominant species during my birding trip to the beach—and they were all 🤣 while I was there. Just kidding, but really thought they were laughing because I tripped over between those slippery rocks😅

Here’s another bird tried to blend in with the flock of Laughing Gulls at Laguna Shores beach. This one doesn’t show with the flock, but I might post it later if I see any pictures that is clearer enough to post.

The breeding adult Least Tern has more distinct features from the pattern of its head to bill color and legs compared to non breeding and immature ones. Least Terns use coastal (sandy) flats above tide lines and along beaches.

How can’t be it an amazing day when you found another lifer at the beach. I figured it was a stilt at first glance ‘coz I had my first record of stilt (Black-winged Stilt) back in 🇵🇭. Looked familiar—slender and pinkish red legs and needlelike bill—but has a full black cap on the head that extends around the eye (like the ‘mask of Zorro’)😅, which is absent in Black-winged Stilt. And of course these stilts have different geographic ranges.
