I grew up in a small town on the Texas Gulf Coast, lived on the central coast of California for the 8 years, Colorado Springs for almost 5 years and recently moved back to our home state of Texas. From the time I can remember, my life has revolved around family, creativity, animals and the outdoors. I always knew I wanted to follow my passion for art and creativity, but never dreamed I would be ab

le to incorporate my other loves and interests into my work as well. After high school, I pursued my undergraduate degree from Trinity University, where I double-majored in Studio Art and Art History. While there, I focused on photography and sculpture as my areas of emphasis. After completing my BA, I spent a year in the fine art world, helping manage sales and curate exhibits at the gallery of a well know fine art dealer. However, it didn't take long for me to realize that my passions lay, not in dealing with the art of others, but in creating my own. Shortly after, I enrolled in a graduate program through the Academy of Art in San Francisco where I completed my MFA in documentary photography. There my classes and thesis work allowed me to find my niche in the photographic world. While exploring documentary photography, I found I was able to incorporate my photographic work with my other passions to create bodies of images that told a story, raised awareness or supported a cause. This is important to me because I also work as a PATH certified therapeutic horseback riding instructor for children and adults with physical or cognitive disabilities. As I grow more as an individual and a photographer, I am striving to integrate these interests to build a career that I can be truly proud of.

If you’ve seen the movie ‘The Mitchells vs. The Machines’ you’ll recognize this guy for sure 😜 If you haven’t, you should probably go to Netflix and watch it right now because it’s pretty much one of the best movies ever. It’s definitely a favorite around our house, so this was a fun costume for all of us!! Two Christmas Eves in a row, Cannon fell asleep by the Christmas tree before we could even read ‘The Night Before Christmas.’ He was so worn out from all the fun with his cousins and family members ❤️ We’re so excited to be able to spend more time with family and friends this year without all the rush and cross-country travel, while making new Christmas memories at our own home 😊

My handsome boy Rye looking like he was made for the Fall. We spent a little time on our family land in East Texas over the weekend and I have to say, I was impressed with the fall colors Texas was showing off! It made missing the Aspens change in Colorado a little less painful 💛 Shot with a Lensbaby Composer Pro II + Sweet 50, so focus/blur effect is shot in-camera, not post processing…it’s a pretty fun little lens!

The force is strong with this one…

Cannon had a blast as Luke Skywalker this year! In past years, he hasn’t really had an idea or opinion on what he wants to be for Halloween, but this year he was VERY specific…He wanted to be Luke Skywalker as an X-Wing pilot. With an old toy football helmet, lots of duct tape, paint, an astronaut suit and a bunch of random bits and pieces (most of which we had around the house) we made it happen! 😊 Here are a couple of shots I got of him in my studio…

So excited to see another one of my photos from StableStrides on the cover of PATH International’s Strides Magazine 🤩 (4 covers now over the years, with another coming soon) And I LOVE seeing some familiar faces enjoying it!! Miss all of y’all at StableStrides, both two-legged and 4-legged 😊

I’m so grateful for times that my passions for photography/art and equine assisted therapy can intersect and work together…I love working in this field and having opportunities like this to capture and share tiny glimpses of the bond and impact our horses, volunteers, instructors and programs have on the lives of so many 💜 Here’s to molding a life/career out of what I truly love and care about, even if my interests are wide and all over the place 😉
