POV: Your work takes you to Oregon wine country during Crush Season. 🍇🍷📸

I’m in the Willamette Valley this week, and this trip is a good example of something people don’t always know about me:

I do a lot more than photography.

I’m here with Sip & Soul Retreats wearing three hats — CMO, operations, and retreat photographer.

We’re getting everything ready to welcome our guests and kick off the retreat on Sunday. There’s marketing happening. Logistics. Details to manage. Experiences to think through. And, of course, I’ll have my camera with me to document the story as it unfolds.

I really enjoy this combination of strategy, operations, marketing, and photography.

As a Fractional CMO, I get to step inside a business, understand the bigger picture, and help turn ideas into something people can actually experience.

Sometimes, the office is in the middle of Oregon wine country. I’m not complaining. 🍷

If you’re a retreat organizer or host and need someone who can think beyond the photos — from marketing strategy to the guest experience to documenting the retreat — I’d love to connect.

I’ll be sharing a little of what happens behind the scenes this week, so stay tuned.

I was in my early 40s on September 11, 2001.

I traveled to New York City often for work. It was a place I knew well, which made watching what happened that day feel even more surreal.

In the aftermath of 9/11, I worked on a communications portal project created to help disseminate information about the recovery and rebuilding efforts to residents, businesses, and tourists.

As part of that work, I interviewed survivors. I spoke with people who had lost family members that day.

I listened to their stories.

Those conversations changed me.

That day changed me.

It changed our country. It changed our world.

I can’t forget. I won’t forget.

There is now an entire generation of adults who weren’t alive that day, or were too young to remember it. They know about 9/11. They’ve seen the photographs and watched the footage.

Yet knowing history and living through history are very different things.

Much like there were defining moments in my parents’ lives that I could understand, but never truly feel the way they did.

For those of us who lived through 9/11, there are images, emotions, and flashes of memory that remain with us 25 years later.

I also remember September 12.

In the midst of unimaginable grief, I witnessed one of the most united periods of my lifetime.

For a moment, the things that divided us seemed much smaller than what connected us.

American flags were everywhere. People checked on neighbors. Strangers showed kindness to one another. We grieved together.

We remembered that we were part of something bigger than ourselves.

Twenty-five years later, our country feels very different.

I don’t know the answer to everything that divides us today.

I do wonder what would happen if, just for today, we treated one another with some of the compassion, kindness, and humanity we showed each other 25 years ago.

Even if only for a day.

Today, I remember the men, women, and children who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

I remember the families who never got to welcome someone home.

I remember the survivors, the first responders, and those who continue to live with loss, trauma, illness, and the lasting consequences of that day.

I remember the stories people trusted me enough to tell.

I can’t forget.
I won’t forget. 🇺🇸🙏

I am also grateful everyday for my one life.

Using your professional photo and changing it are two different things.

Your branding photos were created to be used. Put them on your website. Share them on social media. Add text. Add your logo. Crop or resize them for your marketing.

That’s what they’re for.

The conversation changes when the photograph itself is changed.

A new outfit. A different pose. A new background. An AI-generated version of you based on the original photo.

At that point, you’re creating something new from someone else’s copyrighted work.

AI has made this incredibly easy, and most people probably haven’t stopped to think about the difference.

Before uploading a professional photograph into an AI tool, check the image license you received from your photographer.

Use your photos. That’s why we created them. Just know where your usage rights end.

Save this for the next time you’re creating content with your professional photos.

Quick question: when's the last time you looked at your camera roll and thought "I have nothing to post"?

I hear this constantly—and it's almost never true. The content is there. What's missing is a system for turning everyday moments into posts that actually represent your brand.

That's why I built the 7-Day Brand Visibility Challenge—completely free. For one week, you'll get one simple, practical move a day: no overwhelm, no "post 3x a day," no fancy gear. Just small shifts that add up to a real content plan by day 7.

You don't have to scramble for content to fix that. Intentional, purposeful imagery shows people exactly who you are and builds trust from the start.

Social media is a bit like the Wild West right now.

If your livelihood depends on your Instagram or page, Meta verification is cheap insurance against hacks and surprise suspensions.

Most business owners have hundreds of video clips sitting on their camera roll that never see the light of day.

You know Reels work to get your business seen. But sitting down to figure out a hook, pick an audio, write a caption, and edit the whole thing usually takes way more time than you have.

That is why I created The Reel Lab.

This is not 3.5 hours of sitting in a chair listening to theory. It is a live, hands-on working workshop where we actually create and finish your Reels together in the room.

You bring your phone and the clips you already have. I will help you pick your best ideas, write stronger hooks, use AI to speed up your messaging, and edit everything cleanly without overcomplicating it.

You come with raw clips and leave with finished Reels ready to post, plus a simple system you can use again and again.

When: Friday, October 30 | 12:00 to 3:30 PM
Where: Anythink Nature Library (Thornton, CO)

Early bird registration is $199 through September 30 (saves $50, regular $249).

Spots are limited, so everyone gets 1-on-1 help.

Grab your seat - Link in the comments! You don't want to miss this.
