When family lives in different states, getting everyone together in one place can be pretty special.

Schedules, work, school, kids, and miles between homes can make these gatherings few and far between. That’s why, when everyone is together, it’s worth taking the time to capture it.

This family shared with me that their time together meant so much that they’re already planning and booking their next vacation together. I absolutely love that! Sometimes it takes getting everyone together to remind us just how important—and how much fun—those moments with family really are.

These are the photographs that become even more meaningful as the years go by—the whole family together, in the same place, at the same time. And sometimes, you don’t realize just how special that is until you look back. 💖

One of the things I love about extended family sessions is giving each family group and couple a little time of their own in front of the camera. It’s almost like getting a bunch of mini sessions all in one!

And this adorable couple definitely made the most of their time in front of the camera! 💗 A beautiful beach setting, warm summer vibes, and a chance to capture a few photos of just the two of them.

Extended family sessions aren’t only about getting that one big group photo—they’re also a wonderful opportunity to capture the individual relationships that make up the family.

Joe Burk and I are so proud at the young man he has become. I am so blessed to call him mine and I am grateful that I get to be the one taking his senior portraits this year. We have done a few sessions already and have some more ideas in the works. Here is one of my favorites on the more serious side that I converted to black and white. Many more to come! Because this proud momma can't help but share them all!

A question for everyone...

🎨 Color or Black & White? 🖤

There isn't a wrong answer! Sometimes the vibrant colors, beautiful scenery, and golden light tell the story. Other times, removing the color allows the emotion, connection, and timelessness of the moment to take center stage.

Personally, I almost always deliver both. Whether it's a wedding, senior session, family portraits, or a day at the beach, some images are simply meant to be enjoyed in color, while others have a way of coming to life in black & white. I love giving my clients both options so they can choose the version that speaks to them the most.

Boys will be boys—especially when you let them run wild and free on the beach! 🌊💙

One of my favorite parts of a beach session is capturing kids simply being kids. Skipping rocks, feeling their feet sink into the sand as the waves roll back out, splashing at the shoreline, and just having fun.

After asking little ones to smile, sit still, and look at the camera, this is the perfect opportunity to let those wiggles out while I capture all of those genuine candid moments. Families get to relax, enjoy the shoreline together, and the result is authentic smiles, real laughter, and memories that truly reflect who they are.

A perfect ending to a family session!

What a beautiful summer day for a parade!

On July 11th, the Miss Bridgman Scholarship Pageant, along with the Greater Bridgman Area Chamber & Growth Alliance, hosted a wonderful community parade. It was a pleasure to see the Three Oaks/River Valley Pageants Royalty Court participating alongside so many great organizations, businesses, and community groups.

It was a beautiful day during this extended family session in Michiana Shores, Indiana! ☀️🌊 The sunshine, a calm Lake Michigan, and a wonderful family made for the perfect combination.

It was such a pleasure getting to work with this family again! The girls especially kept me smiling the whole time. Teen siblings always seem to come up with the best photo ideas, and I love giving them the freedom to have fun, be themselves, and let their personalities shine.
