July 4th, in Toledo, Ohio. You’re with the homies, and someone insists that your presence is a burden to the community, so they call for curfews and safety measures “just in case”. Every time you move, they move in blue with eyes dialed in on your language because you have to be everything else but happy. Little do they know, you are. In fact, this predominantly white space that you’re in doesn’t phase you because the joy of seeing friends supersedes their concerns, and a random Black dude was around to document it. I’m truly happy to have made this a thing that began as a random idea a few years ago. This space fills with the voices of folks learning from one another as they wait for their turn. What more should one desire from life in a moment of community? Thank you again to those who came by and see you next year for those who couldn't make it. As much as I hate to do this, I’m delaying my annual backyard sessions by a week due to the potential for rain. With that said, next Sunday, May 31, from 1-4 pm I'll have an open session in my backyard, meaning come when you can. As in prior years, this is informal and lasts about 20 minutes/ 5-6 frames. No special requests (head shots or extra poses). I'm in year 4 of this thing and would love for you to be a part of it.
