Hi, I’m Rudy—a photographer with a deep-rooted love for capturing moments that tell a story. My journey with photography began in 1978 when my dad handed me a Praktica camera. That simple gesture sparked a lifelong passion that still drives me today. In 1981, just after graduating high school, I bought my first SLR—a Pentax K1000—which became my constant companion, even during my service in the US

Navy from 1984 to 1988. I lived on a warship for four years, and that camera was with me every step of the way, helping me document the world through my eyes. These days, I shoot with a Pentax K70 and a collection of vintage lenses from the '70s. I work exclusively in manual mode because I want to feel every part of the process—like I’ve earned each photo. My goal is to create images that not only speak to me but connect with you, too, through the stories I share in my captions.

Happy World Social Media Day.

It feels appropriate to say hello from here today. The path from you to art often runs through a screen, a scroll, a follow.

"Waterfall Sidecut Metropark" exists in your feed because that path opened, and I am genuinely glad it did. Thanks for following me here.

Rooms are brighter in the summer than at any other time of year. There are more windows open, more light moving through the space, more hours in the day when the work on your walls is actually visible.

A metal print carries no glass, creates no glare, and has a surface that holds up to that kind of sustained light.

Fort Meigs

Construction of the fort started in February 1813 by soldiers under the command of General William Henry Harrison (future president) at a site where present-day Perrysburg, Ohio developed. It was to provide a supply depot and staging point for US military operations in Canada that would also command the rapids of the Maumee River. The remnants of the British Fort Miami were across the river downstream, to the northeast. The winter climate was harsh, and the landscape unforgiving. A U.S. sentry froze to death during his two hours of guard duty.[2] The walls were constructed using logs cut to a 15-foot length, partially buried in the ground, then protected by a steep earthen slope thrown against the logs to strengthen them against bombardment. An embankment against the interior side provided a parapet. When completed, the fort was the largest wooden walled fortification in North America. It was here at Fort Meigs where the British were defeated in the war of 1812. Date taken 04/17/2016

What has your art collection taught you?

Not about art history or markets but about your own taste, your spaces, the way you spend your attention.

"Lil Pumps" is part of an ongoing conversation on my side of the screen.

I would genuinely like to hear what you have learned.

When people move house, they make a hierarchy without realizing it.

Some things get donated, some get stored, some make the journey regardless of whether they make logical sense in the new space.

Art almost always travels. It is rarely the practical choice that moves with you. It is the things that meant something. Has that been true for you?

What have you moved more than once, and would "Have A Drink" make that list?
