Haven’t posted in a while, here’s the latest shot. This is M17, the Swan Nebula. This is a target in close proximity to the core of the Milky Way, only being visible for a few hours before sunrise at this time of year.

Tonight I may be able to get first light from a prototype of my custom telescope! I’ve 3d printed out all of the parts, in the final design I will use CNC machined aluminum parts.

Also, my image of a supernova remnant near the Rosette Nebula is Image of the Day on Astrobin!

Here’s a new image of Jupiter captured last night. I used to capture my images over only a few minutes to avoid issues with the rotation of Jupiter, but for this I kept my scope on Jupiter for nearly 2 hours straight. The moons you see are Ganymede (right) and Io (left).

Equipment used: Meade LX10 8” SCT, Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro, QHY Minicam8M
