While walking along the great salt lake beach, I found this bottle that has been covered by sand and salt for quite a long time to be buried this deeply. You could just make out a hint of red in the bottle that has otherwise been bleached clear.

I am grateful for sunrises. This morning on my way to work I had to stop for this breathtaking scene over the Oquirrh Mountains. Just as the sun was cresting then I knew this would be magical. I am glad that I had my camera with me. I did a whole panorama that I will stitch together, but this is the focal point of it all.

This is another photo of antelope island from yesterday. This was shot with a longer lens making the island appear larger. Yes it is surrounded by water, I just didn’t have enough time before work to walk from the parking area to the water’s edge. I hope to get more shots in the future that actually include the great salt lake in the shot.

I drive past the south shore of the Great Salt Lake every day in my way to work. I always like the way that the light hits the peaks on antelope island. One of these mornings I will get out early enough to get all the way to the shoreline to get some water in the shot.

This is my very first try at stacking light painting. I made the first photo with the tree as a silhouette. Then I walked around it with my flash and a remote trigger to illuminate the tree. I would have to say that for my first attempt it turned out pretty well. I see plenty of room for improvement, but happy overall.
