Hi 👋 ️I have something to say about A.I.!👇
Recently, there has been a big increase in the fear of sharing images of children online due to a federal judge ruling regarding children and the use of AI. This is a crazy, terrifying, and overall horrific issue to have to face as a nation and as a species.
But the thing is, this has been coming down the line for awhile, and anyone who is forward looking enough has had enough understanding for some time to see that this is where AI would lead us; that it would (and has) become the crux of human depravity and laziness. Why look into something beyond one paragraph on the Google search engine when AI can give you the answer right away? Why purchase a book when you can read it online, or ask Alexa? Why not just create whatever depraved and demonic image you want, just because you want to, and can?
So, my "hot take" is this: Choosing not to share images of children on public pages is a good start (something I have always been VERY conscientious about anyway- I do not post to social media if clients request that privacy), but it is NOT enough to stop what artificial intelligence is doing to the earth, and to humanity. This world is changing, and I think that *most* of us feel that it is not in a good way. If you want to *really* make a difference, then don't be complicit and just let life happen to you, or your children, or your grandchildren. Sign the petition. Buy and support local food markets when you can. Help your neighbor who is in need. Go to the city council meeting. Use your voice. Read books. Teach your children practical life skills....and for the love of all that is holy (like forests and clean water sources and our children) please stop using AI for *everything*. Even better, don't use it at all.
I'm not blameless in being part of the problem! To be honest, as someone who loves science, history, and various factoids of all types, ChatGPT is a phenomenal research tool. Why spend hours looking for reputable sources of information when you can pull them all up in seconds? Yet...after experiencing and learning about the dangers of these tools, I feel it is my personal responsibility to avoid them. And no, that doesn't mean that I'm judging you and we can't be friends if you *do* use AI! It's only that as a human who has to exist on this earth, and as a mother, and as a wife, and as a friend... I want our world to be beautiful. I want my kids, and your kids, to grow up on the planet that they deserve.
That being said, it will be business as usual here at B.P. Photography. I'm still going to respect your privacy, and I'm still going to think of your children as I do my own when you DO allow me to share your moments from our sessions on my platform. I'm not going to ruin beautiful photos with pixelation for you to share on your socials, just because, let's be real, that's a lot of extra work that I don't feel like doing 🤷♀️😂 But feel free to place as many sticker emojis on them as you want! In all seriousness, though, I do offer print purchases through my website. So if sharing your memories is just as important to you as your family's privacy, then why not start a photo album? It might not give you the same serotonin boost as opening your notifications to see a list of post reactions, but it does give you 100% control over who can see your precious family memories. Also, who doesn't need a good tool-of-one-thousand-baby-pictures to push out guests who have overstayed their welcome? 😂
If you made it this far, I hope we can still be friends, and I hope that this post did not come off as haughty, or arrogant, or judgemental. We can only do what we can do, and sharing my thoughts on this matter is, in a small way, doing something. ❤️
LAST THING: I'm diligently working on all of your sessions, and galleries for sunflower minis will start going out next week!
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week, and upcoming Labor Day! 🌱🍂
