Hello, my name is Amy and I need a kidney transplant. Saying this is getting easier as reality sets in. After 24 wonderful years with my first transplant, it’s time I need another. I unfortunately got kidney damage a few years ago due to issues from a birth defect, and it’s been slowly failing ever since. I’m on a waiting list for the last 4 months, but the average wait is 3-4 years. My team at the KU Transplant center has encouraged me to share my story, let people know, and try to find a living donor. The hope is to avoid dialysis which is harder on the body and doesn’t have as good outcomes. Here’s some things about me, and ask away if it helps. Maybe my donor is out there🙏💙💚 Thank you!
I’m “under 50” hehe, I’ve had my first transplant a very long time - I call it Lima, I’m a lover of animals, fall weather, photography, sunflowers, a good laugh, and have three dog kids. I’m pretty independent but love my friends. I was born with birth defects from an FDA approved med they gave my mom, and almost didn’t make it a few times! I had an amazing mom that taught me about what’s good in this world and never gave up on me. She passed 4 years ago now, and was my biggest supporter. I work in education, mostly from home luckily, and have worked 1+ jobs since I was 13. I know a little about a lot lol
So many of you reading this know me, feel free to help me convince someone out there to donate🤣 And if you’ve read this far THANK YOU! Please hit the like and share button😘 Let’s find Lima 2.0!!
