reclaiming a part of myself that younger me didn’t even know was possible. returning to dance, best decision i ever made. the art, the movement, the connection. i hold so much gratitude and appreciation to be part of this community. sixteen year old me, would be reeling. not for returning, but for learning joy could exist in this way. doing this alongside my family, just makes it that much more special.

“because of the women who came before me, i am.

not in ways that the eye can see. not the stories, the memory, the qualities i carry, these are quiet inheritances.

strength that does not harden, but softness that survives despite.

within them, and within me the ways we endure, adapt, and continue.

i carry their hands in mine. hands that nourished, held, cleared — hands that never leave.

their stories in my body. their becoming in my own. things passed down, without sound. things we still learn to hold, or things we choose not to carry.

lineage, is not pain alone. but continuation. feeling the hands of the ones before me, seeing the ones after me.”

written by me

my own lineage of women is a mystery, my mother my only knowing.

these are a few images from our recent trip that give me nostalgia. the moments unseen, unrequited, unspoken sometimes. because it’s not the typical tourist appeal. it’s life, unraveled. sometimes unexplained. moments of pure mundane, easily overlooked, yet wholly profound.

sharing an image that is etched in my heart forever. it reminds me of my favorite quotes from ram daas: “we are all just walking each other home”.

in just one sentence the essence of oneness, reminds us of this journey we all take separately, but ultimately as one.

my most coveted images, that i have taken, are not ones on my professional camera. they are truly those moments that i feel in my body. visceral experiences, all senses beyond physical are alive. not because i’m trying to capture something perfectly composed or visually striking. but because it feels like truth. i see a truth of my own, but to the viewer i wonder — what is the truth they see? how does that feel?

“are you still booking?” the truth is, i never stopped. what i needed was time to step away from the hustle and noise that kept me feeling lost, and overwhelmed. the truth is the further i lean away from social media, the more whole i feel. quietly returning to this space makes me feel a bit anxious, honestly. operating from a space, of wanting to return fully to sharing my art and experiences, but also disappearing to live without a screen. it’s kind of difficult to operate a business and not be “active”, but i am focusing right now on honesty, and transparency.

sometimes stillness is exactly what we need to find ourselves. a lull doesn’t negate your achievement, it invites you to pause, explore, and create on your own terms. lean into the quiet. trust your vision. let your art be your own.
