Creative freedom is a gift to creativity. I was reminded this morning that God is the ultimate creative. No matter how many sessions I get to shoot, my nerves still get the best of me. Especially when a client says to me, “Whatever you think, I trust you.” I immediately put that trust into God’s hands. He guides every push of the shutter. He has captured so many genuine moments. In this season of gratitude, I’m thankful for every session that God used me to create. He has gifted me some truly amazing people!

To love is a choice, not a by-product of everything going our way. The choice to love is ours, and our peace, joy, contentment, fulfillment, and overall happiness depend on the choice we make. For example, if I had it my way, these people would still live close enough for me to hug. I definitely took that for granted… in a way, maybe that’s a sign that trust exists in our relationship??? No matter how much time goes by or the distance between us, without a doubt, the second we are within arms reach, it’ll feel like no time had passed at all. Missing my beautiful friends!

Authenticity = REAL LIFE! Forget about what everyone else’s photos looked like on your feed, and come as you are. Years from now, you probably won’t be looking at your family photos, saying, “I’m so glad I waited to lose 10 pounds!”, or “I wish we would’ve posed more.”

EMBRACE IT ALL!!! Embrace the uncertainty, the fear of change, the growth, the challenges, the excitement... every single ounce of life can teach us a lesson about who we were, who we are and who we want to be. It all has a reason. Ultimately, it’s leading you to who you're destined to be. Listen to your instincts and learn from your experiences. Subtle changes are a sign of growth. Pay attention, feel the feelings, and be proud of how far you’ve come!

The newborn stage lasts about 3 weeks before everything starts changing. I think that’s exactly what makes lifestyle newborn sessions so special. The session is intentionally focused on the NOW. Whether you post the pictures or not, the images will one day remind you of what life was like with your newborn. It’s a time that passes especially fast. Even if you don’t hire a professional photographer, take photos of it all— the joy, the messy, the cries, all the things!!! Then print them for your newborn to show to their children one day.

Had the pleasure of doing a lifestyle session with .mac , one of the most stunning Mamas and her beautiful little family. As a photographer, it’s always a little nerve wrecking going into someone’s home. I mean, I’m a stranger about to get all up in your personal space. This precious family was so welcoming!
