When this senior and her mother came to the studio for a consultation, she looked around for a while at samples and had a look on her face. I asked her what she was looking for and she said "You don't have any sample locations for what I am looking for". I sat and talked to both she and her mother and we talked about what she was looking for.

She wanted an "Urban Look" but not just an Urban look which included lights in the background. I told her, I would do my homework and see what I could come up with. After conversation back and forth with her mother, we decided on a location and did the session.

When a senior talks to me about a session, sometimes it's "Can you so something like so and so did" and sometimes it's. "Can we do this".

The can we do this was the case last year around this time when Megan Perhach and her mother Jana Perhach approached me about something different. I have never said "Sorry, no I can't" but rather,"I will see if I can permission". Each senior is unique, so your session should be who you are.

What would you like your senior session to be?

I was finally able to get my Test/Model Session in this past Friday evening. My purpose of the session was comparing a darker look to a brighter one.

Last year during Lady Vikings Volleyball season a few parents said to me "My daughter does the same pose every year, I wish she would do something new". We Timothy Koppenhaver, Tina Hoffman Reinoehl here are a few new ideas.

On a serious note, I did a test session with Kamri Koppenhaver last fall just using gels but I felt something was missing. Since now using smoke with the gels we setup another test session and tried different colors and some just plain. I cannot thank Kamri Koppenhaver enough for taking time out of her schedule along with Vera Fausnacht who was originally along with help with the smoke but ended up taking a lot of the photos. One of the big things I did learn is the smoke needs to be applied a certain way for the photos to turn out correctly.

This past week, Leiter Side Photography was taking Williams Valley High School Senior Yearbook photos our studio in Tower City. Doing them at the studio over the summer, allows the seniors to get them done before school starts and because they get an individual time slot, it allows them several poses to choose from. I will at the studio this coming Monday and Tuesday afternoon to finish up those that have scheduled appointments.

Since returning from the ALL Creatives Workshop, I have been wanting to try a weight room/fitness center session. Yesterday I was finally able to make it happen. Thank you to Adrian Bressler for volunteering to be my test subject, Brent Becher and Bullpen Fitness & Rec Facility for use of your facility and Lucas Schwartz for helping with the smoke.

On Day 4 of the workshop we went out and photographed some things that we learned the past few days. Some of the photos I went back to my old way self as far as lighting and exposure but some as you see are darker and pushing shadows. The day was cut short because of the heat but it was truly a beautiful place to photograph in Charolette as there was no traffic to worry about.
