BHS Track & Field at the State Meet
The Bulldog Track & Field team State qualifiers traveled to Missoula for the State Track Meet this weekend. This is such a cool event to go kinda be a part of! The fact that I have a camera allows me to get up close to the action, and to interact with a bunch of really great kids! I gotta tell you, that was money well spent on that camera!
There are so many great stories that usually happen at State, and this one was no exception. Most often it is not so much that you won or lost, it is more about doing your personal best and achieving a new PR (Personal Record) There were a number of those happening!
Trace Giomi achieved PR's two throws in-a-row in Discus and took 1st Place! Gavin Green PR'd in the 3200M. The Girls 4x100 Relay team of Holly Newman, Elaine MacDonald, Aspen Slyker and Kaitlyn Noyes PR'd, setting a new school record, and took 5th Place. Some PR's are a little more than personal records, though. Some PR's are SR's! That would be State Records. And for the 2nd time in her high school career, that is what Kaitlyn Noyes did in the Long Jump! On her very first jump, Kaitlyn went 18 feet and 9.75 inches to set a new Class B state record!
And don't forget Kyla Meissner who didn't even know if she was going to compete until the day before the meet! Kyla had an injury that kept her from running for the last month of the season and didn't even think she was going to get to participate this weekend until a last minute second opinion cleared her to run. She responded by taking 4th place in the 1600M and 1st place in the 3200m! I'm sure there were probably others that I did not find out about. And I apologize for missing a couple of the Awards Podium photos opportunities! And I especially apologize to those I did not get a picture of!!!
Overall, the Girls team came in 5th Place, and the Boys team came in 13th. Saturday was a cold, kind of miserable day weather-wise, but it was exciting nonetheless.
Thank you, Bulldogs, for representing your school, and our community, so well! And thanks to all of the coaches for all of their hard work!
