Whippoorwill Photography New name for this business is Whippoorwill Photography. Officially it will change soon. I am a photographer in Traverse City, Michigan.

My photos are a way of sharing what touches me in my world with you. I share my view of the world around me, from the stunning beauty of an aurora lighting up the night sky, to a bumble bee in a summer flower. The people, animals buildings in my life also touch my heart in a way that I want you to feel it too.

On my first night in Norway I realized slowly that the aurora was huge and that I was lucky in that night that the skies were also clear. I headed out to a spot as I really wanted to get a photo of the aurora behind the Sommaroy Bridge. Alas, there were huge tour busses in the parking lot I wanted to shoot from. The taillights from the busses made the snow in front of me red. I had cleats in my car and climbed an ice hill. Standing on the back of it with my tripod firmly anchored in the ice/snow I was able to get a shot.

Last mountain bike ride today. Tomorrow starts fi****ms deer season so I stay out of the woods. By the time it’s over we may have snow. Had a great ride but was thinking next time I’m on this trail I’ll probably be skiing

Some of my photos from last week. Look at the wooden walkway and the sand in a couple of the photos towards the end, they are either red or green or red and green reflecting the sky. The walkway is red in one photo and green in another. I looked one way and took a shot then looked another-then looked above me for the corona shot. The photos of the Aurora over the pond were taken while standing on that same walkway. The sand is red and green in the shot with the overlook. Was so cool to see that WTH my eyes. Had a beautiful time watching the sky and spending time with friends.

Stopped out at the sunflower fields again they are fading fast. Wish I would have come out at 9 like I was considering doing. Still, the sky and clouds are beautiful. I almost missed it all. I’m hooked on taking sunflower photos now. More to come, still sitting in my car next to the field…
