Okay, let’s talk about denim. 👖

cabi really nailed this collection. These jeans are designed for real bodies and real life, which is exactly what I want from my jeans.

There are seven different silhouettes, so there’s something for every body and every kind of outfit. And it’s the little details that make them special. The fit, the wash, the stretch, and all those thoughtful touches that make a pair of jeans feel really good when you put them on.

I’m excited to share another story from my 40 Over 40 project — this one featuring Emily, the heart behind Chestnut Services in Traverse City.

Emily wears many hats — mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, therapist, and entrepreneur. Through all of those roles, she has spent decades caring for and supporting others. In this season of life, she’s also making space to reflect on what it means to care for herself, stay connected to her intuition, and continue growing with intention.

What I love about Emily’s story is her perspective on aging. She writes about the wisdom that comes with experience, but also the renewed sense of possibility that can come with it. There’s no sense of “arriving” — just an openness to keep learning, evolving, and becoming more aligned with who she is.

I’m grateful to be able to share her story and a little glimpse into the woman behind Chestnut Services.

There’s something pretty magical about an office with a view like this. 🌊☀️

When the Blue Lakes Real Estate Group asked me to bring my brown chair from the studio to the beach for their team photos, I’ll admit I thought it was a little funny. 😂 But once we got it set up at Van’s Beach, it made PERFECT sense. Because really… how very Northern Michigan to have your office at the beach!

And then there was the Beatles-inspired photo crossing the road. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Was it slightly chaotic? Yes.
Was it probably a little more dangerous than my usual portrait session? Also yes. 😂
Was it SO much fun? Absolutely.

We spent the evening photographing around downtown Leland and Van’s Beach, capturing the personality of this team and one of the beautiful places we all get to call home. We ended the evening with the most gorgeous sunset, and honestly, the vibes were just incredible from start to finish.

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to step into people’s worlds for a few hours — and by the time we left, I genuinely felt like I was part of the Blue Lakes team.
