We spotted this fox out near Molt, MT today--actually almost in the middle of town. Bet they are doing their part to control the rodent population. A bit on the smallish side, so maybe this a "kit" from this spring. Happy Sunday!

I keep forgetting that I can have Lightroom stitch together photos for a panorama. LR did a pretty good job with the three images I took. I'll have to be better at remembering I can do that.
The bridge in the foreground is the old Bundy Bridge and the concrete bridge that is partially hidden is the new Bundy bridge over the Yellowstone River just to the north and upstream of Pompey's Pillar, where William Clark left some graffiti. A pair of Osprey have a nest nearby, and there is a large eagle's nest visible to the west. Storm clouds stole my sunset so didn't leave with much this night. Still, I enjoy being outside, listening to the river rush by, watching the birds and looking for critters.

While on the Mississippi River for a little sightseeing trip the boat Captain spotted this eagle having shore lunch. These are deeply cropped photos taken w/ my 70-300 lens at 300 (I'm trying to tell you we were appropriately distanced so as not to disturb) Their mate is sitting on the other end of the log. Gonna need a bigger lens.

Sunday morning May 24th, 2026. Kat and I hiked up to Buena Vista Park to catch the sunrise, fog in the Upper Mississippi River Valley and watch a barge head downriver into Lock No 5. Watching the fog roll in and out was fascinating. Such a busy place too--so much commerce, grain going to mills, trains loaded with everything going up and down the river day and night. Wildlife too, we saw so many birds, including a Rose Breasted Grosbeak that sang to us while we were watching the river.
