The toy cars didn’t stop at Dykema.
After three incredible days Dykema DSO Industry Group, Jonathan Booher and Lorren Booher entered what every conference attendee eventually reaches…
DSO mode.
Decompress.
Selfie.
Obligation.
We found a quiet spot at the Ga***rd Rockies to snap the traditional “we survived” photo when a guy walked over and asked if he’d like to take a “good one” one for us. Which naturally led to Jonathan saying “I only take good photos” and then proceeded to selfie all three of us!! 🤣
That one simple gesture turned into a conversation.
He wasn’t attending Dykema. He was there for the Phelan McDermid (PMSF) conference taking place elsewhere in the resort.
As we talked, we remembered we still had a box of toy cars from our booth.
Then it hit us…
The smiles didn’t have to stop at Dykema and neither should the cars!
We looked at each other and said, “We have to give these cars to these kiddos.”
So we did.
Image22 had the unexpected opportunity to bring a little joy to an entirely different community of children and families.
Every remaining toy car found a new home.
The best part? We later discovered PMSF is also based in the Tampa Bay Area!
It’s amazing what can happen becauee of one “Super Bowl” conference…because of one simple gesture.
A stranger offered to take our photo.
A conversation started.
A box of toy cars found a new purpose.
And another community of children will have a reason to smile.
Sometimes the biggest impact isn’t planned. It happens when you’re open to the unexpected.
The conference may have ended, but the opportunity to make a difference didn’t.
Business is important; shaking hands, giving your pitch, exchanging information, attending the sessions… it all matters. The opportunity to connect is why we are here.
However, the opportunity to make a difference, even on the smallest level is everything and that is the human connection! But the human connection is everything!
