Happy Friday Tucker! Since I have quite a few more followers than the last time I introduced myself, I thought I'd make a post re-stating what my goals are with this page. Basically my intentions fall into three categories:

1. Practice photography. A little over two years ago I combined my photography hobby with my longstanding enjoyment of bike riding.

2. Highlighting events, businesses, places, infrastructure, etc.

3. Pedestrian and bike infrastructure advocacy. I don’t expect Tucker to become the next Amsterdam, Copenhagen, or Utrecht. That's like comparing an apple to a jumbo jet. I do think common sense investments in human-scale infrastructure are within the city's grasp though.

Ultimately, this page is about celebrating what makes Tucker special while thoughtfully imagining how it can become even more connected, welcoming, and accessible for everyone.

Let’s talk about First Avenue. This “belt of Tucker” runs east to west through the heart of the downtown footprint. The Tucker Post Office anchors the eastern end, while the western end is home to several businesses and, soon, new housing. Between them, the Tucker Trail crosses near Tandem Bank and the City Hall Annex.

Despite its geographic prominence, First Avenue remains a relatively quiet and understated street in my opinion. For now, it feels more like a connecting thread than a destination, but perhaps fuller days are ahead.

Happy Friday Tucker! Today I want to highlight Mama Debbie's Art Emporium. Mama Debbie's Art Emporium

Located on Railroad Avenue, you can buy, sell, display, experience, or create art here. This creative hub offers several classes, galleries, and so much more. They opened in early March of this year and are already one of my favorite places downtown. It is a breath of fresh air for the city, and it feels as though they are only just getting started. I hope they are a Tucker fixture for a long time as the city and it's creative scene continue to grow.

Today’s street highlight covers Church Street and Lynburn Drive.

True to its name, Church Street is a small loop above Lynburn Drive lined mostly by church properties. It is also home to the Church Street Greenspace, which served as downtown's primary green space before the Town Green opened. The space is still open today and now includes a playground and fitness court. The Hearthside Club sits at the end of Church Street, one of the few residential spots in the downtown footprint.

Lynburn Drive runs from Lawrenceville Highway on the east to the Lavista - Chamblee Tucker Road intersection on the west. On its western end, it provides access to a Tucker Trail segment and Corner Cup.

Together, Church Street and Lynburn Drive make up much of the northeastern side of downtown Tucker. Another thing of note is the parking agreement that opens up a lot of spaces to the public that are easy access to downtown.

Fun camera fact: Slowing down your shutter speed can create some cool motion effects. The longer the shutter stays open, the more movement the camera captures. Moving subjects may blur or leave trails, while still objects can remain sharp if the camera is steady. You can tell who was still and who was moving in this photo.

I almost didn't go to the celebration last Friday, but I am so glad I changed my mind. Fun times and a great opportunity to play with the camera settings.

A new addition to downtown is coming soon with fun for all ages. They certainly have been working diligently on getting ready. The cherry on top for me is a serving window facing the alleyway connecting Main Street to the Town Green.

Also, it looks like the long time murmurings were true! Stillfire Brewery is moving into the space behind Local No 7! I suspect that they will have great success as long as the town green stays popular.
