Where was I this weekend? Technically this place is outside of Tucker, but not too far away. This is a favorite hang of mine with neon vibes galore. Lots of events and visiting food options as well.

Hopefully those are enough clues! I'd hate for the truth to outrun you! 🕹🍺🪨⛰️

This last Saturday I visited Johns Homestead and Twin Brothers Lake for the first time. There are just a few of the shots I got.

Johns Homestead is a cool piece of DeKalb history and is in need of some good restoration and preservation.

The Twin Brothers lake area is very nice with lots of seating, a gazebo, thoughtful landscaping, and more. There were a good number of people out enjoying the park.

I'll be sharing more of my photos from here in the coming days and weeks.

Throwback to ARTucker 2026! 🎨

Tucker has so many great events throughout the year. Which one is your favorite?

I’ve been a little off my usual posting schedule lately as it’s been a busy month or two for me. Going forward, I’ll probably settle into one or two posts a week instead of three. Stay cool out there! ☀️

It appears that the updated transportation and trails master plan was unanimously approved in a recent council vote. Thank you city council for taking trails and transportation seriously!

The question of "What's next?" has been on my mind lately though. The last trail segment opened in late 2024 with the Marthasville–Stratmor section along Hugh Howell. I know planning, design, right-of-way, funding, and other factors make trail projects slow, but I hope that future segment planning can move forward while current segments are under construction.

So, what’s next? Behind-the-scenes work appears to be progressing on the Downtown–Northlake segment, and a portion near the South Fork Peachtree Creek was fast-tracked and may even begin construction as early as next spring.

My encouragement to Tucker is simple: don't let the momentum die. The city has shown it can turn plans into reality. Budget pressures may make that harder, but trails are more than recreation. They are investments in transportation, connectivity, public health, economic development, and quality of life. My hope is that the city can do what we bikers and pedestrians do every day: keep moving forward.

With gas prices these days, bicycles are looking more and more like a good idea right? 👀⛽️🚲🤣

If Tucker ever gets a parking deck, I hope they do something similar to Lawrenceville with their decks. Internal lights show available spaces and an electronic info board outside lists how many spaces are available per floor in real time. Then again, seeing how generally available off-main street parking is, perhaps Tucker's day to day supply isn't far off from demand. Do you think Tucker has enough parking, or is more needed?
