WHY I BECAME A DOCUMENTARY-STYLE PHOTOGRAPHER

I kept asking myself the same question.

What if the ordinary was worth documenting?

Not just birthdays and holidays.

Just Tuesday afternoon.

Could I make the mundane feel beautiful?
Could a photograph bring me back to the feeling of this season of motherhood?

I became this kind of photographer because I was afraid I'd forget. Not what my children looked like. But the way they reached for my hand. The toys they couldn't leave home without. The mismatched clothes they loved. The sloppy kisses. The sound of their laughter (and tears) filling our house.

I wanted photographs that could take me back to the feeling of being their mom. Because someday, I knew that would matter more than a perfectly posed portrait.

That's what I've been chasing with my camera ever since.

I don't offer 15-minute sessions.

Not because I'm precious about my time.

Because the photographs I'm trying to make can't be rushed. When I arrive, I'm not looking for everyone to smile at the camera. I'm watching how your family moves together. I'm getting to know your kids. I'm giving them space to warm up, to get curious, to stop performing and simply be themselves.

Trust takes time. The best moments rarely happen because I ask for them. They happen because your daughter reaches for your hand without thinking. Your toddler finally decides I'm safe. Your teenager lets their guard down for just a second.

Those moments can't be scheduled into a 15-minute window.

I also want room to create with you. We might wander toward a pocket of beautiful light, linger somewhere your kids naturally gravitate, or follow an unexpected moment that's unfolding. Some of my favorite images happen because we weren't racing the clock.

I photograph from many perspectives. Wide scenes. Quiet details. Big laughter. Small gestures. The relationships between each member of your family. Together, those images tell a story that's richer than a handful of perfectly posed portraits ever could be.

If you're looking for quick and inexpensive, I'm probably not the right photographer. But if you want photographs that feel like your family—honest, layered, and full of the little things you'll miss someday—I would love to create those with you."

ONE ORDINARY MOMENT

she stopped mid-step to look back at me, blue pen still in her fist.

ten years from now she won't remember learning to walk along the safety of that couch, learning what her legs could hold. she'll have long since let go of it — but I'll remember watching her decide, in real time, that she could stand there on her own.

that's the whole job of ordinary moments: they're not asking to be remembered. they're just asking to be seen once, while they're happening.

It's 104 degrees at 5pm right now. Nobody's shooting golden hour outdoor sessions in a Tucson July, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

So this summer (and all year long for that matter), I'm offering sessions in your home instead — where the AC works and your kids aren't melting into a puddle before we even get 10 real images.
