Why is now the perfect time for a lavender shoot? They only bloom in June! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful farm just an hour away that opens its grounds for these beautiful sessions.

There’s something magical about walking through rows of blooming lavender, the soft purple hues, the golden evening light, and the sweet scent carried on the breeze. It creates a dreamy backdrop that feels straight out of a storybook and makes every photo feel a little more special.

Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, updating family photos, documenting a season of life, or simply want beautiful images surrounded by one of Arizona’s most unique summer blooms, lavender season is the time to do it.

Krista is graduating from Salpointe Catholic High School, and this session felt extra special for so many reasons. Through my day job, I’ve had the joy of knowing Krista and her family for years. I've worked alongside her mom, and I’ve also photographed her older sister.

Over the last five years, I’ve watched Krista grow into such an incredibly sweet young woman. She is always ready to step in and help, no matter the task, and it has been so fun to watch her step into this season.

After graduation, Krista is heading to the University of Arizona to study Architecture, and I know she has such an exciting future ahead.

Her session definitely kept us on our toes as we battled the weather. I always say that as long as it’s not pouring rain, we can still shoot, and while we dealt with sprinkles, wind, and eventually getting rained out right at the very end, we still created so much magic. Sometimes those dark clouds make for the best kind of backdrop.

An afternoon celebrating one very accomplished graduate 🎓

Sarah has officially graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, and getting to document this closing chapter for her was such a joy. She is one of those people who makes a session feel easy from the very start.

We explored the law building, a place where so many hours of hard work led to this moment, then made our way over to Old Main, which is such a classic backdrop for any University of Arizona graduate.

Getting to hear about Sarah’s journey, and how excited she is for this next chapter, is such a reminder of why students pour so much into their studies. The late nights, the tears, the celebrations after passing an exam, and the moments where it feels like it may never end all lead to days like this, where you get to celebrate how far you’ve come and everything you’ve accomplished.

Sarah is heading into an exciting next chapter, moving to Charleston to clerk for a federal judge, and I have no doubt she is going to do amazing things.

I took the trip.

After everything going on in my personal life, I needed something that would help bring the spark back. So with a few friends, and new friends made along the way, we explored Turkey.

From eating our way through the streets of Istanbul, visiting religious sites, and admiring every cat we came across (despite them somehow never making it into the photos), to waking up before sunrise in Cappadocia for one of the coolest experiences of my life: a hot air balloon ride surrounded by hundreds of balloons floating through the sky.

We ended one night at a traditional Turkish dance show and yes… we absolutely ended up on the dance floor. One thing I love about music is that it doesn’t matter the language, you can still feel and understand it. Kind of like photography. Every photo tells a story, no translation needed.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a trip without some kind of photoshoot. I even stepped in front of the camera myself. If you’ve been here awhile, you know I try to do that at least once a year. It helps remind me what it feels like to be on the other side of the lens and helps me show up better for all of you during your sessions.

I can’t wait to share the mini balloon shoot we did out there 🤍

Full circle moments like this will always have my heart!

I can’t believe it’s already May! That means grad season is officially wrapped up — and what a way to finish! I had the pleasure of capturing Max’s senior session. He’s off to pursue a degree in bioengineering, and there’s no doubt he’s going to do big things. Congrats, Max!

Traveling to Montana I knew I wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous scenery. What better way then to get in a maternity session with Kyra and Joseph. Between the beautiful backdrop and their love for each other, this session was one for the books!
