SECEDA 9.3.26
There were so many moments that felt like they were taken straight out of a fairytale. Like how we got ready together, in our little hotel room. Like picking up my bouquet from the flower shop the morning of the wedding in the tiny mountain town we stayed in called Ortisei, that I ordered the day before. Like the cows with cow bells that smelled my flower bouquet along the hike. Like the smiles upon everyone’s faces and congratulations in many languages as we passed them on the trails. The pure shock of us being dressed the way we were on a hike was so fun. Or how the weather was absolutely perfect, not too hot, not too cold. Like how I had a dream of a beagle a day before our wedding and then on our wedding day there was a beagle in the town AND on the hike at our ceremony spot (definitely has meaning there). Or the spot we found which was private and beautiful and quiet to share our vows. Or how there was a chalet right by the spot we married, and when we went there to get drinks, we walked in and all the “strangers” clapped for us…and it somehow felt like this magical unplanned reception. And how the owner had his very young son play the accordion for us and we danced our first dance, in the middle of the mountains, while everyone watched, our 3 friends with us and strangers who all felt like friends now. And how we got to know the server who said she had never seen a wedding out there, that far in, how most people ride the gondola up and marry at the top (of course we would do something so very uniquely us). And how she brought us homemade schnapps shots made from pine needles, right there in those mountains. And how we ate cheese made from the cows in the pastures grazing around us. And how they brought out grandmas plum cake (literally made by the grandma) and we got to “cut the cake” on the mountaintop. And how we toasted with the most delicious local white wine and ate the most amazing food. How we spent all day in that valley and then ended our night with a dinner in a restored farmhouse from the 1600s. All of these moments felt like winks from the Universe.
I married my best friend, my favorite travel partner, and the love of my life. ✨
