I recently went to photograph a former wedding couple's newborn in their home and upon walking in I immediately saw this largely printed image hanging on their wall.

Lacey reminded me of all the details...
The La Marca bottle was custom engraved with their wedding date.
The accent wall it lives on is painted La Marca blue.
The champagne glasses belonged to her late Nana, who had passed before the wedding, so they honored her by toasting with them.

Then she said,
"I didn't want to look at a giant photo of my face every day. I wanted something that reminded us how our wedding felt..."

As photographers, we spend a lot of time talking about first kisses, golden hour, epic exits, etc... But sometimes the photo that hangs on the wall for years isn't a portrait at all. It's a picture of Nana's glassware that makes them remember what that day felt like.

Congrats to Cole and Lacey on little Ace.

Bare feet in the grass, a picnic on family land, and about as Mississippi summer as it gets.

These two spent the evening slow dancing in the field, eating snacks, and letting me tag along with a camera.

One of those sessions that just feels easy from start to finish. Now it’s their wedding week, and I can’t wait to celebrate them this Saturday.

Memorial Day felt like the right day to share this portrait again.

Command Sgt. Major Lawrence “Rabbit” Kennedy wasn’t just a decorated soldier from Amory, Mississippi (my very small hometown). He was part of a generation that lived through things most of us will never fully understand.

Rabbit served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He survived being captured three different times. As many knew he could sit for hours telling stories from war, life, and people he met along the way. He never met a stranger. But somehow, the things he didn’t talk about were almost the most impressive.

You’d rarely hear him mention his awards, the honors, the cover of TIME Magazine, or the fact that he retired as one of the most decorated soldiers in U.S. Army history with 4 Legions of Merit and 34 Air Medals.

I was honored to have him in my studio that day and even more honored to spend a little time with him behind my camera.

Memorial Day always feels like a good reminder to slow down a little and remember people like Rabbit and the others who sacrificed so much for this country and us.

Rest easy, Rabbit

Garden party rehearsal dinner energy done right.

Tacos, homemade hot sauce, and a crowd that fully committed to the vibe and weather that felt like a paid actor. Honestly one of my favorite rehearsal dinner setups I’ve photographed in a while.

Whoever came up with “garden party but make it tacos” nailed it
