WORKING WOMENâS WEDNESDAY | The Shoals Doula - Katie Terry đ¤
Some people walk into a birth as strangers.
Katie walks back into rooms where sheâs already become part of the familyâs story.
The little girl in these photos? Katie supported her parents through that pregnancy, too. Now sheâs preparing to help welcome her little sibling.
Watching them together made it easy to understand why families choose her again.
Katie isnât there to deliver babies.
Sheâs there to help families feel informed, supported, and confident before labor ever begins. Whether sheâs demonstrating positions to encourage babyâs positioning, teaching comfort techniques, answering the questions that come up between appointments, or helping parents understand their options, her role is rooted in education, advocacy, and unwavering support.
What struck me most wasnât just how knowledgeable she was⌠it was how present she was.
She listened.
She explained.
She laughed.
She encouraged.
And she made space for a curious toddler to be part of the experience, too.
Working Womenâs Wednesday is about highlighting women whose work leaves a lasting impact, and after spending an evening with Katie⌠itâs easy to see why families trust her with some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of their lives.
Because sometimes the greatest gift you can give an expecting family isnât an answer.
Itâs having someone beside them who knows the questions to ask, believes in their voice, and reminds them they donât have to walk into birth alone.đ¤
